My Week Long Absence

Happy weekend y’all! I hope you had a great week, and your weekend is going fantastic. I was a little absent from blogging last week because I was trying to get the essay that I entered into a contest perfected and submitted. Thankfully, with the help of my “editor” help, that being my husband, mother, mother-in-law, and my mother’s boyfriend, I was able to get the essay entered on my birthday. I can admit that I was being overly critical of my writing abilities and almost changed my mind several times. However, I know if I had changed my mind, I would have regretted it because I would always wonder what would have happened and that would have tormented my mind. We should always try new things because we do not know what exciting new opportunities might avail. I have always thought the only way we can truly fail in life is if we give up or just do not try.

The contest I entered was a personal essay, which I wrote about when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Of course, it was a challenging time in my life, but I do think all that transpired during that time has made me a stronger person. There is a part of me that wishes I did not have to endure this diagnosis, but at the same time, it could have been far worse. Thankfully, the form of MS I have is not the worst case, but it does entail hard times that I continue to fight through. Unfortunately, I have to wait until late December to know the results and if my essay was a winner or not!

Life is not easy, and we are all faced with different challenges, but it is how we adapt and handle these challenges that let us know our true strengths. Life takes a strong will to survive and overcome the challenges in our path. I will always keep the promise I made to myself and my late grandfather close to my heart and that was that I would NEVER surrender to the MS and would continue the fight until I will the war going on in my body. Of course, there are times when it gets almost unbearable because the pain is out of control, but if I stopped fighting what kind of person would I be?

Throughout my forty years on this planet, (I just turned 40 on September 30th) I have dealt with various situations that could have broken me. I decided as a little girl to not allow the evil in my path to destroy my happiness. So many times, during my life, people have done their best to tear me down and make me feel like I was not worth anything, but those were the evil people that do not deserve the satisfaction of defeating me.

I am sharing all this with y’all, so you know that no matter what you go through in life you are not alone. It is crucial to NEVER allow anyone to make you feel you are worthless because that is so far from the truth. I think most people that prey on those they think are weak have demons within them that they have not faced or overcome, which I think is sad. Seriously, what kind of monster would prey on a child or a woman? I think the answer is a weak and pathetic individual that needs to seek help so they can face their demons and be better people. It is not only men that can behave this way because there are women that have the same kind of demon within them. The agonizing truth is mental health is a tragic situation and it is not being handled in the best way. It is possible if mental health was being treated properly, maybe the world would be better than it is now.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you have enjoyed what I have shared, and it resonates with you. Everyone around the world needs to learn to accept others for who they are and help when it is feasible. I look forward to reading your comments, which I will respond to as quickly as I can. I hope the rest of your week is spent relaxing and safe! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Always, Alyssa

Thoughts of the past week.

I have always tried to be tolerant of other people’s “unique” personalities because I do not know what is going on in their life that causes them to be a SO unpleasant, but it has been nearly impossible this week. I know “most” people are frustrated with COVID, as we have all been dealing with this for over a year and a half. The reason I said most people is because there are still some for whatever reason that cannot comprehend the seriousness and how deadly the virus is and are still refusing to get vaccinated. Those of us who can understand these issues are feeling isolated and frustrated because this is hindering doing things we enjoy and living life.

This past week was exhausting and aggravating for me because the harder I tried to be patient with others, the more impossible it became. My supervisor was out this week due to a death in her family, so if I had questions or needed help, I had to go to one of the two other supervisors. One of these supervisors cannot admit when she is wrong about something and will consistently degrade anyone that does not agree with her. While the other supervisor is not like that, her personality or lack thereof created a tremendous amount of animosity and discouragement. I am the type that will be harder on myself than anyone else could ever be, so when someone is being short and demeaning, it makes me feel a lot worse about myself and my abilities.

It is my opinion that a manager, supervisor, team lead, or anyone else that is in charge, should be mindful and understand that their subordinates ask questions for a reason. I will admit the personalities of the two people I had to deal with during the week do not mesh well with my personality at all. I do not need anyone to treat me like I am a fragile flower that is going to fall to pieces or have kid gloves on when talking to me, but I do deserve respect. I think when a manager is being degrading, it is counterproductive and not doing good for anyone involved. I appreciate constructive criticism and will thrive in whatever it is I am doing.

Differences between people are what keeps life interesting and provides us with room to grow. I cannot imagine a world where everyone is the same and think it would think it would be monotonous. I would like to believe that I am easy to get along with and that I treat others with the same respect I desire. I can remember telling one of my co-workers and friend, that work and how other people behave is not worth our tears, but I did not listen to my advice from last week and broke down to tears several times.

Although last week was upsetting and discouraging, I would like to believe there were lessons to be learned and that they will make me stronger and more resilient in the future. I cannot say that I am not overly sensitive at times because I am, but I also can take most things with a grain of salt and keep going. Considering I am already extremely hard on myself and my worst critic, dealing with cold and demeaning people is painfully distressing.

For almost 40 years, I have put myself down and thought I was not good enough. My goal is to stop criticizing myself and start believing in myself, and the abilities I possess. I am not sure if y’all remember me talking about a writing contest I wanted to participate in a few months ago. Unfortunately, I did not because I never thought what I write is worthy enough, so I decided to not try, and I do regret that. Recently, I received another email regarding another contest. The contest is for a personal essay, which I think will be exciting and interesting. I have four topics to decide between for this contest. I am excited, nervous, concerned I will not do well, and several other emotions. I am going to start an outline for the essay over the weekend. To stay organized, I might do an outline for the four topics I am deciding between and see where it takes me. Whichever topics I do not use for the contest, I can use later for another contest.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you had a good week, and you have a fabulous, and safe weekend. I hope you enjoyed what I have written and look forward to your comments. If any of you have done a writing contest before and have any advice for me, I would love to really appreciate it. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

COVID, Masks, and Vaccines!

I am sure everyone is as tired of hearing about the virus, the variants that came to fruition from the virus, and the vaccines that have been available for several months, but this continues to be a massive issue in the United States. Neither the virus nor the vaccines are a political statement. COVID-19 and the vaccines are not Republican or Democrat, and they do not discriminate. The virus that has spread throughout the world does not care what the color of someone’s skin is, who they worship or love, their ethnicity, where someone lives or is from, their age, or anything else, and has already killed over four million people worldwide. Unfortunately, these numbers will only continue to rise until everyone does what is necessary to end COVID!

The crazy things I have heard people say recently are they will not get the vaccine for religious reasons or think the vaccine should be a personal decision and not mandatory, they cannot find the time to get the vaccine, and masks are taking away their freedom. None of these illogical thoughts make any sense to me. For starters, masks are NOT taking away anyone’s freedom but are saving lives. Also, the vaccine is completely FREE, and it does not take long to get the shots, so 15-20 minutes is worth it to keep living.

There are very few religions that are opposed to vaccinations. The reason why some religions are opposed to vaccinations is due to things the vaccines are made from, but the COVID vaccine is not made of any animal-based ingredients. Christian scientists tend to turn down vaccines because they have a belief in the healing through prayers, which means they believe prayers can have the ability to cure diseases and illnesses. Unfortunately, no amounts of prayers are stopping COVID from taking a person’s life.

The Dutch Reformed Church does not have an official standpoint on the COVID vaccine, but many of the members are opting out of the vaccination. These people believe that vaccines will interfere with their relationship with God by making them less dependent.

I was very apprehensive about getting the COVID vaccine, but it was out of fear of possible interactions with the Gilenya I take for Multiple Sclerosis. I remember years ago when the flu vaccine was available and was a live vaccine and frowned upon with Gilenya so I never got the vaccine and luckily never got the flu. Despite what was said at the beginning of the pandemic, COVID is a lot different than the normal flu and a lot more deadly. Of course, with the COVID vaccine being new there was not a lot of information available and even the manufacture of the Gilenya was unsure if the vaccine was safe for me to get. I did not wait for approval from my neurologist or the manufacture to get the vaccine and thankfully, it did not have any of the interactions I was fearful of.  Unfortunately, six months after getting the vaccine, my bloodwork showed that I did not have any antibodies for COVID so masks are a must for me, but I still do not regret getting the vaccine because maybe the vaccine was protecting me in the beginning. Plus, those that are fully vaccinated and got COVID had less severe symptoms.

No vaccine is 100% effective, but the Pfizer vaccine for COVID is 95% effective. Moderna is 94.1% effective and Johnson & Johnson is 85% effective with COVID. I would say that even an 85% effectiveness is better than nothing at all. The vaccine may keep people protected for a few months and it loses it protection meaning another vaccine may be necessary. With so many people continuing to decline getting vaccinated, the virus is only going to continue to mutate creating more variants that are going to be even more deadly and possibly resilient to the vaccine.

I do think one of the major issues with the virus and the vaccine is ALL the misinformation and lies that are being spread on social media and from ignorant people. This is dangerous for the health of all humans and needs to end. Masks will NOT cause health issues but will prevent the spread of COVID and end more variants from starting. Wearing a mask will NOT only keep you safe but keep others safe if you are infected with COVID because you are asymptomatic.

With children going back to school, there have been a lot more kids and teachers getting sick with COVID and ending up in the hospital. Thankfully, my husband and I do not have two-legged children because I do not think I would feel comfortable with my child going to school. Many parents are fighting requirements for their children to wear a mask, but then do not want their child having remote learning. I think it is crucial to keep the children and teachers as safe as possible. I think what some parents do not realize is, their child follows their example. The parents that are causing violence in meetings with the staff and other parents at their school and acting with no regards to human life are setting the worst example. The truth is, children are our future and when they are only seeing bad behavior, what does that do to the future of our country? The children are not able to fully understand the seriousness of this virus and do not comprehend the importance of masks and social distancing. Children must be at least 12 to get the vaccine, so those under 12 are at a higher risk.

I do understand that there is no way to change someone’s mind about getting vaccinated, but I can at least try providing these people with a logical explanation about the importance. The only person I can control is myself, so I will continue wearing a mask and will either get a third shot of the COVID vaccine or a booster when it is available. The one thing we all can work together on is ending the spread and further variants of this extremely serious virus. Part of me thinks that our new normal is wearing masks anytime we leave our homes and disinfecting anything that enters our homes. It might not be a great way to live, but it will provide some sort of comfort and safety.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I do hope the information I have shared has enlightened you to the gravity of this virus. I will urge you to get vaccinated if you have not already so we can END COVID sooner rather than later. I care about human life, which is why I will continue to do what is necessary to keep everyone safe and alive. I am looking forward to reading what your thoughts are on the information I provided in this post and promise to respond to all comments as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Boost your immune system

During the past year and a half, eighteen long months we have learned many valuable lessons about the world and those living in it. From coast to coast, throughout every country people have endured the stress, fear, and anxiety from a wildly contagious and deadly virus. Some of the most prominent issues with COVID-19 are the misinformation that has been shared in the news and social media, but also those that are refusing to get vaccinated and or wear a mask. Too many people have politized this virus, which should NEVER have been a political issue because it is science-based. This virus has already killed millions of innocent people worldwide and has not stopped. Throughout this post, I am going to share important information on the complications from COVID and ways we can strengthen our immune system to defend against illnesses and viruses.

COVID-19 may be different for each person that gets the virus, but some are going to be similar. Symptoms may range from minor to severe and even lead to death. The symptom may include fever, coughing, shortness of breath, trouble breathing, fatigue, chills, body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion, loss of smell or taste, nausea, and diarrhea. Some people are asymptomatic, which means they have the virus, but do not display any symptoms and are continuously spreading the virus.

Unfortunately, some people may experience COVID-19 complications that are caused by a condition called “cytokine storm”. This condition is when an infection prompts the immune system to flood the bloodstream with cytokines, which is are inflammatory proteins. These proteins may kill tissue and damage organs, and, in some situations, lung transplants will be required.

The immune system behaves similar to the way a security system we have in our homes does. My immune system does not behave the way it should, which is where my fears stem from. Although, our immune system is complex it is the first line of defense against illness. Our immunes system is comprised of various organs, cells, and proteins that have several vital roles, which include:

1. Fighting disease-causing germs such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi and eliminates them from our body.

2. Acknowledges and negates harmful substances from the environment

3. Fights disease-causing changes in the body.

Considering how crucial our immune system is and the ways all the variants of COVID-19 are impacting the world, we must do everything we can to keep our immune system healthy. Personally, the medication I take for my Multiple Sclerosis causes my immune system to be weak. Even though I have been fully vaccinated, I work from home, have groceries delivered, and rarely leave the house, I am still worried. On the rare occasion, I do leave my house, I do wear a mask because there is no way to know if the vaccine was effective for me. Also, I would not want to be an asymptomatic carrier and pass it onto someone else, even though they had the option to get the vaccine and did not.

Unfortunately, as we age our immune response capability may become reduced. With cases of COVID from the Delta variant steadily increasing, now is an important time to do everything we can to keep our immune system as healthy as possible. I am going to share several ways to help build and maintain a healthy immune system. Before you continue reading, please remember I am not a physician, nutritionist, or health expert, this is just information I have learned through a little research.

Maintaining good gut health could be the golden ticket! It has been suggested that doctors believe up to 80% of our immune system is found in our gut. A diet that is abundant with plant-based and unprocessed foods such as whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, herbs, and spice display a protective effect. Utilizing this type of diet can reduce inflammation and promote good gut bacteria, which establishes stronger immune health.

As COVID-19 continues to mutate into different and more contagious variants, continuing good hand hygiene is crucial. Washing our hands multiple times, a day for at least 20 seconds is the best and most effective way to not spread bacteria, viruses, and infections. You can count to 20 each time you wash your hands, or you can sing happy birthday or Mary had a little lamb 2 times as you wash your hands!

Continue or start taking vitamins daily. Vitamin C supplies immune defense by assisting cell function and defending against environmental contributors. If you do not want to take a vitamin C supplement, there are several natural sources including oranges, strawberries, spinach, kiwi, and grapefruit. Vitamin D can increase the immune response and defend against respiratory conditions. Of course, there are vitamin D supplements, but 10 minutes of sun exposure a day is an effective natural source.

We have all heard many times that stress is a silent killer, but it also harms our immune system as well. Stress can cause us to produce additional levels of cortisol and cytokine, which triggers inflammation. Stress can also decrease the number of white blood cells in our body that help fight off infections. Discovering ways that work best for us will restore much of what is needed for a healthy and fulfilled life.

Developing a schedule to get an adequate amount of sleep every night can help boost our immune system. Research suggests that less than six hours of sleep each night might make someone four times more likely to get sick, than someone that does get the proper amount of sleep. Our body depends on a full night’s rest to replenish cells and proteins. Of course, during the workweek, it is easier to stay with a sleep schedule because we have a set time our workday will begin, but we should use the same sleep schedule on the weekends as well

If you are currently a smoker, it is time to quit. Smoking does so many awful things to our bodies and increases the risk of cancer. There are many programs available to help you quit smoking, but it does take you making the first step! If you drink alcohol, it is best to only do this in moderation. Alcohol not only creates negative impacts on our physical body but also on our mental health.

Staying hydrated might not protect us fully from viruses but becoming dehydrated has many negative impacts on us that can easily be avoided. Dehydration can cause terrible headaches and hinder our physical performance, focus, mood, digestion, heart, and kidney function. I have mentioned before the importance of staying hydrated and provided a few useful tips. I drink water all day and even have a bottle beside my bed at night, so if I become thirsty it is available. I have purchased a few phenomenal bottles on Amazon that keep my water cold all day. I leave one bottle in the freezer, filled halfway with water so when I take it out there is ice in the bottom that helps keep the water even colder! I will share a link to the bottles that I have and hope you will find them as helpful as I do! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764PGKL4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I hope the information I have shared will be helpful for you. I know there are many other ways we can work to keep our immune health the best it can be, so if you have other advice, please share with us! I have already said before, the vaccine is free, and everyone needs to get this as soon as possible. Being vaccinated and or wearing a mask will save lives. The people that are not getting vaccinated and wearing a mask are contributing to the death count, which is wrong and selfish.

Thank you for visiting my site today! I hope you are having a relaxing, safe, and wonderful weekend! I am looking forward to reading your comments, which I will respond to as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Importance of Relationships

There are numerous aspects of our lives that are crucial for our existence but are often what we neglect. Life can be busy and complicated which can cause us to take things and people for granted. Unfortunately, it takes some people losing what and or who is most important to them to realize what matters the most. If I asked you what or who means the most to you in your life, what would your answer be? Do you ever have to wonder if your partner in the journey of life knows what they mean to you?

Our relationships with our significant others should be valued and cherished. Not only is this special person who we are building our lives with, but they are also our best friend and confidant we go to with every part of our life. There are specific things we owe not only to this person but to ourselves. The several critical areas needed to develop a good and healthy relationship go hand in hand. The following list is in no particular order as they are all of equal importance.

Trust is what keeps a relationship strong. Without trust, a relationship will not be able to flourish and continue to be pure love. When you do not trust your partner the way you should, you will not have peace because you will spend your life with doubts and constant worrying, which is no way to live. Of course, trust is not something that can be earned overnight, but it can be lost in seconds.

Building a love with complete loyalty might be more important than love alone. I do not think that love can truly exist without loyalty because of the core meaning. The full meaning of loyalty is faithfulness to commitments and obligations, such as your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. This is a strong feeling of support, comfort, encouragement, and fidelity.

Open and honest communication is the key to make a relationship possible for success and happiness with both parties. Talking openly and in a manner your partner understands is needed for a favorable outcome. It does not matter if you are angry, happy, or filled with grief we need to be able to share these feelings with our partners. If we are not able to speak openly, clearly, and from the heart with our special person, it can be an ultimate killer in that relationship.

Respect is equally as important as love is in a relationship because when you genuinely love another person, you love them completely and for who they are. A relationship is a bond between two adults that may have a difference of opinions and views, but there is an understanding about these things. Respecting one another is the basic foundation in any healthy relationship. With this understood, it is critical to appreciate your partner for who they are and what they feel about all topics and never diminish their views. We need to know how to maintain boundaries and say things in a manner that does not hurt our partner’s feelings, which is one simple way to show respect.

Relationships can take us on a roller coaster of emotions as we endure many challenges in life. One of the great things is, our partner will be there by our side through good times, bad times, and the most tragic times. This is extremely important for mental health because life does throw so much our way and with a loving partner to offer a lending ear, a shoulder to cry on, or a hand to hold can be extremely helpful. Our partner in life is the one we share the happy and sad news with and when we are feeling down on our luck this is the one, we want to be there. Our partner in life helps keep the walls from falling around us and is the glue that keeps us together. When you are in a relationship, this is a partnership and a team that stands together with whatever life throws our way!

When you love another person, you do not think twice about giving up something you want to make the other person happy. You want to accommodate the other person’s dreams and desires. If your partner dreams of climbing Mt. Everest, you try your best to make this dream come true even if it is not something you want out of life. That might have been an extreme kind of example, but some things in life need to be considered. This does need to be a mutual part of the relationship because if only one person is continuously compromising it can create negativity, animosity, and hostility, which can cause people to drift apart.

It is a great feeling when you can completely and totally trust your partner. The only thing you MUST do to maintain this is to always be honest with your partner. The smallest of white lies and deception can dismantle the trust built up and destroy a relationship. Not only will dishonesty hurt your partner it will also break the bond shared, all trust, and your relationship as well. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes, but when we do, we need to accept responsibility for the mistake and sincerely apologize. Of course, our partner might get angry, but if we are honest with our partner, they will appreciate the honesty.

With honesty comes forgiveness, or at least it should. We all want our partners to be honest with us, but we can make this easier for them when we can forgive and forget (or at least try to forget). There are some things in a relationship that can be almost impossible to forgive but want to forget, such as infidelity.

The things I have discussed in this post are not difficult to do when you love the person you are with. The things our partner expects from us is what we should provide to them as well. Those we are in a relationship with are the one person we feel the safest with and they should feel the same way. If you have reservations about your relationship, this is something that needs to be shared with the other person. No one can read minds, so how would we expect them to know how we are feeling unless we share our feelings with them?

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared and look forward to reading your amazing comments. I promise to respond to all your comments as quickly as I can. Inspirational Wednesday

We are halfway through the week and so much closer to the weekend, so today is going to be a great day! How has your week been so far? My week started fine, but yesterday created a little frustration at work. The frustrations were fueled by needing answers and not getting any. Knowing things are changing, but not being told what the changes are going to be or when they are going to happen is very aggravating. No matter how irritating it may be, I am just thankful to have a job.

Let’s not think of today as simply Wednesday, but more as the halfway point to the weekend! Considering we have made it through the first two days of this week and we do have a few more to go we could all benefit from a little inspiration! I hope is that you will find the quote I am sharing with you inspiring and it will help you make it through the last few days of the week! Of course, we will all experience regrets in life, but it is crucial to not regret any days we have in this life. Every day of our life, whether good or bad has something to build our character stronger and wiser. Our bad days provide us the experiences needed to learn from them, so we will not make the same mistake more than once.

I think one of the most important things we can do in this life is to always treat others with respect and kindness. I am not naïve enough to not understand that some people might not deserve our respect because they are not showing us or others with that same respect, but we can be the bigger person and try anyways. I do believe that respect is something that is earned and not given, but until someone shows us they do not deserve our respect we should give it to them. People are going to make mistakes and all we can do is hope they will learn from their mistakes.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared with you and you found the meaning to be an inspiration. Everyone views things differently and there is nothing wrong with that, as long as we can all be respectful in the things we say in return. I will always respond to your comments with kindness and will never dismiss anything you say. I am looking forward to the opportunity to read what you think about what I have shared and will respond to all comments as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Tranquil Tuesday

Happy Tuesday y’all! Even though we have four days left in the week, we have made it through one day already! How is your week going so far? I do hope you are having a great week. My week is going much better than last week did or at least the beginning of the week is and I hope it continues on this track. I did have a dentist appointment yesterday, but it was only to have the permanent crowns put on and it was not really bad. The only part of this appointment that was rather annoying was how long I had to wait because they seem to have hard time scheduling appointments the right way, but at least it did not hurt me.

I am trying to get back to my normal blogging routine and will hopefully be able to continue the way my routine was before I got a little too sidetracked with life and challenges. I am hoping the quote I am sharing for “Tranquil Tuesday” provides you with the much-needed peace we all need considering there is a lot of problems in the world. I find it sad that we cannot all just get along and accept others for who they are instead of what they are if that makes any sense. I like to believe that I am a fair person and treat everyone equally and with respect, so I do not understand people that judge others based on things that do not matter.

I hope you are doing well and you are staying as stress-free as you possibly can. I am fully aware of how difficult it can be to not become stressed when life becomes overly challenging, but we all need to remember that we are all perfectly imperfect humans. There is absolutely nothing wrong with not being perfect or being what some would call normal. No one is perfect despite what some might think and there is nothing wrong with not being what some call normal because what is normal? I would much rather be different than most people because I do not like being like everyone else. In my opinion, I would rather be completely and perfectly imperfect!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site today. I know we are all busy with work, life, family, and so much else, so I want you to know how much I appreciate your time today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared in this post and look forward to reading your amazing comments, which I promise to respond to as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Motivational Monday

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had an amazing and safe weekend, and you are ready to begin the new week with a positive mindset! Of course, I did not do much over the weekend, but that is just the normal weekend for me and I do not mind it at all. After the crummy week, I had last week, doing nothing over the weekend was best. I think sometimes we just need time to reset and clear our minds from anything negative, which is exactly what I needed more than anything.

Now that we are at the beginning of a new week, I think we could all benefit from a little motivation to kick start the week off right. I hope the quote I am sharing with y’all today will provide you with enough positive and motivating energy to help this week be a good one for you. I would love the chance to know if this quote helped your week begin the right way but also hope that each day will make the week better until it is finally Friday again. I will be the first to say that it is not always easy to be happy, especially when things happen in our lives that are anything but happy. However, I do think if we have enough hope for better things in life to happen in time, a positive attitude can help remarkable things come to light! I do not think anyone has ever said life was going to be easy, but all we can do is continue to try! Never giving up takes strength, but we are all full of the necessary strength and determination!

No matter how this week starts for you, I hope you have a wonderful week! I know it can be easy to get discouraged when numerous things go wrong, but just try to keep moving forward and keep your chin up! I had mentioned to the Shipt delivery lady last week how awful my week had been. Unfortunately, on her way to the house she was hit head on by another driver and still managed to get the groceries I ordered to my house. I told her I would be happy to come pick her up, but she made arrangements with a friend of her to borrower her car because she wanted to get what was ordered to me. Thankfully, she was not injured at all, but maybe a little shaken up. Turns out, even though I thought my week had been terrible, her day was so much worse. She is an unusually remarkable person and dedicated to her customers.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed everything I wrote and l look forward to reading your comments, which I promise to respond to as quickly as I can. I hope you never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Flooded with Memories

~June 12, 1999~

Sometimes it seems like time flies by us, while other times it feels as though it is standing still. I can only speak for myself when I say this, but I did not enjoy my high school years and some reasons I will not go into. June 12th makes 22 years since I graduated high school and even though I did not go directly to college, I never looked back. I graduated high school at 17 years old because of where my birthday falls in the school year. The choices that I made when I finished high school probably were not the best, but I was young and could not wait to get as far away from the small town I grew up in as possible.

The funny thing is, I was always a dreamer and had thoughts of what I wanted my life to be like after those miserable four years in high school. Of course, there were many dreams I had that might not have come to fruition, but I have always thought that everything in life happens for a reason even if we do not know what those reasons are right away.

One thing I never dreamed of after I got out of high school was to be diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis only two years later. To be honest, I did not know much about this disease all those years ago and only knew one other person that had it, which is my father’s wife. It took me many years to realize that having MS was nothing to be ashamed of and I did not have to hide it from anyone. I do think that this disease has made me a stronger person and of course, I promised my late grandfather that I would never allow it to control me. I also promised that I would never let MS win the fight because I would win the war my body was having within itself.

A dream I had 22 years ago was to be a Broadcast Journalist, which as you know did not happen for me and I do not have any regrets. The reason I do not have regrets about not being in Broadcast Journalism I know I would be able to deal with lies from politicians and would probably get myself in trouble calling them out on their deceitful ways. It does not matter if a politician is a Republican or a Democrat because the truth seems to be a little challenging for all of them to provide. Plus, I also strongly believe that people deserve honesty, especially with issues that impact our lives.

Once I had given up on my Journalism dreams, I thought being a Pediatric Nurse would be an amazing career. Unfortunately, not too long after I decided nursing would be a great option, I had an awful relapse and was worried that it would be a little too challenging to be a nurse if I had mobility struggles. I was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a few years on a Pediatric unit and I learned fast that mobility issues would be far less challenging for me than the emotional impact this had on me. There were a few patients I will always remember, but one little girl that even to this day sends chills down my spine. She was a sweet six-old little girl that had been brutally raped by her uncle. Due to the legal issues, her mother was not allowed to be with her in the room, which was for good reason. Part of the job for the nurses and CNAs was to help the little girl with her bath, but she would not allow anyone but me to help her. I would also sit with her and read her the book of her choice. There were a few other children that weighed heavily on my mind and would put me in tears at the end of the day. This emotional struggle caused me to have a lot of stress, which created issues with the MS.

I am an overly emotional and strong-willed person. I am the type that will fight hard for what I believe in and defend anyone unable to defend themselves. I have never and never will allow anyone to change my mind on something I am passionate about, which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the issue. I think it is safe to say I would have made one hell of an attorney if I had wanted to be in school that long and have that amount of student loan debt.

Again, as I have already said I do believe strongly that everything in life happens for a reason. We may never know what the reasons are for the things that happen in our life but should try believing there are reasons for everything. The best and most we can all do is be happy in life and be thankful for what life has provided us, no matter what.

It does not matter what I have gone through in life because I know I am who I am from all of it. I have a quiet and happy life with my husband and three cats. Y’all may remember that in early February we lost our cat we had for almost 16 years, which was a painful loss for both me and my husband. There are still times today that I think of Chloe and what could have been done differently. I might be an emotional person, but logically I know nothing could have changed that day she took her last breath on my lap. The only good thing about this was she did not have to suffer, and she was able to pass away peacefully in her home.

First, I want to thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I wrote today. For some reason, it had taken me several days to think of what I wanted to write about, which might be because I had a lot of ideas on my mind. Plus, it was a long week for me, and I was feeling very fatigued. Second, I hope you are having a great and safe weekend. Our weekends should be spent doing what makes us happy and helps us to relax to recuperate from the week we just had. I am looking forward to reading your comments and I promise to respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Admiration

Admiration is a strong and powerful word, but what does it mean? Admiration is an emotion that is felt when we witness an individual that is competent, talented, and or exceeds the typical standard. We may feel deep respect or show warm approval for that person. Admiring someone could cause us to envy or be jealous of what another can do, which may motivate us to try hard and assist with self-improvement.

What are a few qualities you admire in an individual and why? There are numerous qualities that I admire in an individual that help me to continuously try to be a stronger and better person. One quality I find admirable is determination. All too often it can be easy to get discouraged when it seems like something is impossible and we want to give up. When someone is filled with determination, they never give up and use those feelings to make what was thought to be impossible, possible. There have been times in my life when I felt discouraged because life threw too much my way all at once. However, even though I felt this negative way, I always try to keep pushing forward to accomplish what I desire most.

I find people that are resilient extremely admirable. I would say that determination and resilience go hand and hand to help us succeed in life! Those that are resilient can recover quickly from the challenges of life. There is no denying the fact that life can be difficult, and it takes a lot to make it through. However, I am sure we have all survived many challenges in our lives and we keep going!

I believe an important quality to have is integrity. A person with integrity is honest and has strong morals. We might not always agree with our friends and family, but we must all remain honest. It seems like many in the world have forgotten what their morals are or even what that means. Morals are an individual’s standards of behavior or beliefs that concern what is and is not acceptable for them to do. For instance, I am a strong believer in treating everyone with respect and have never judged a person on anything but their actions.

Another quality that I find admiration is when someone is empathetic towards others. We never know what another person is going through in life, and I think it is crucial to try to understand, even though it might not be something we have gone through personally. The person that is going through a difficult situation may just need someone to listen and not judge.

A quality that I wish more people had is the ability to believe in the importance of equality. It does not matter what the color of a person’s skin is, where they are from, what their religious beliefs are, who they love, or anything else because we are all human and deserve to be treated with respect. I do not think what is going on with racial discrimination is fair. Too many people feel like they need to hide who they love because the other person is of the same sex. I believe that if people are loving and not hating, I do not see why it matters at all. During Pride month there was a very disturbing situation that occurred on a lake. One boat had a Pride flag flying not causing any troubles, while another boat began harassing them. The boat that was harassing them ended up catching on fire, which I think what karma all is about. The crazy thing is the boat that was being harassed saved their harassers by helping them get to safety. I was impressed that the boat with the Pride flag flying and being harassed saved the ignorant people because I do not think I would have.

Is there a certain person that you have a lot of admiration for? If so, who is this person and why do you admire them? Even though a certain person I have a lot of admiration for is no longer with us, I still have deep admiration for my late Grandfather. All the qualities I listed admiring, he had and then some. My Grandfather had a heart of gold and he will be forever missed by everyone that was honored to have known and loved him.

I am simply curious what would you have done if you saw the boat with the Pride flag flying and another boat harassing them, but then end up catching on fire. Would you have helped the boat with the ignorant people harassing the other boat? If you would have helped them, why would you have helped? If you would not help them, what would your reasons be?
