Pick Me Up Thursday

Good morning, Friday eve y’all! How has your week been? I meant to do a post yesterday but was battling with a nasty migraine/headache and was not able to. I am not sure if it came from looking at a computer all day long, allergies, stress, or somewhere else. Unfortunately, this started mid-day and I still had several hours left at work, but I somehow pushed through it. Even after my workday was over, I still was not able to rest to get rid of the evil migraine because I had to run to the pharmacy. Sometimes it seems like my day is never over!

The past two days I have been in training for my new job. There is such a difference between the mortgage job I did have and the one I am doing now. Considering this was only day 2 of training, I think I am picking up on this well and will continue to understand what this job entails. I did get frustrated a few times because nothing was making sense to me, but the trainer is patient and helpful with her explanations.

I guess I found the mortgage industry easy because I did it for six years and had a great handle on things. I know learning something new takes time and I need to be patient with myself. Of course, like always I am hard on myself and discourage myself. I will work on this, I promise. I honestly do not think this job is too difficult, it is just an entirely new world from what I am used to. I will continue to put my best foot forward and keep y’all updated!

We have almost made it to the weekend, and we only have one more day to get through, which may seem impossible. I feel like we could all use a little pick-me-up to help push us forward. I hope the quote I am sharing with y’all today provides you with the strength and courage to get through. Life gets challenging and overwhelming, which is why we need to focus on taking one step at a time. Do you try taking on too much at the same time as I do?

Unfortunately, Ukraine is still experiencing tragic times. During these times, we need to continue sending them as many prayers and good thoughts as we possibly can. There are no valid reasons for anyone to go through what they are and it is past time for the invasion of this country to end. It is a blessing they have a fearless and strong leader who is standing with his people and not running.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared and the quote helps you get through until we are finally enjoying the weekend. I look forward to reading your comments and will respond as quickly as I can. I will try to do better with blogging and not miss a day again. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Always, Alyssa

The first day

Yesterday was my first day at my new job. Honestly, it was only the orientation to loosely get to get to know the company and a few new co-workers that are starting the same day as me. It was not too exciting and was just a lot of talking. It took five hours of listening to the HR manager, getting our equipment, and finding out the person that was “supposed” to be my manager resigned on Friday. It was shocking news to find out the lady I interviewed and told me how much she loved the company and her job left. I am not sure if that is a good sign, but it does not seem like it.

I think I was more nervous about the drive to where the orientation was being held rather than I was about starting the job. The interstate I had to drive on always has a lot of road construction and standstill traffic, which alone makes no sense. There was one point when there was not any construction or an accident and traffic suddenly stopped. Come to find out traffic stopped because there was a car on the side of the road broken down, so people had to stop and look. I just do not understand!

Even though orientation seemed slightly disorganized, I am trying to keep an open mind. Typically the first day at a new job seems chaotic, so this is something expected. Looking on the bright side of things, I am working again and it is from home, which is what I wanted. For the next three weeks, I am going to be in training, so I hope training is thorough and clear. I know to ask a lot of questions and take notes, so I know what I am doing once training is over.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope your week is going well and you are feeling the best you can. For some reason, last night my pain levels were extremely high and I know it had nothing to do with the new job because it was something a little more personal. I look forward to reading your comments and will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Motivational Monday!

Let’s Begin This Week Off With A Positive Mindset!

Happy Monday y’all! How was your weekend? I hope your weekend was full of relaxation and happiness! Honestly, my weekend was fairly uneventful, and I enjoyed that. I feel sometimes we all need the entire weekend to recuperate from a long and busy week.

With all of the changes that have gone on with the weather, I have been dealing with my typical increased pain. Now, I do deal with this every time there is any changes in the weather, but for some reason Sunday was a lot worse. It is a good thing I didn’t have any plans and didn’t need to leave the house because my legs hurt so bad it was painful to even walk. No matter how high my pain is, I will never sit around and feel sorry for myself because it could always be worse and life if just too short I guess we all deal with health issues and we make the best of it.

Sadly, the weekend is over and we are at the beginning of a fresh new week. It isn’t even easy to say goodbye to the weekends, and my cats especially hate it because now Mommy will be in her home office locked away from them all day long the entire week. Yes, my cats are babies and demand a lot of attention! I almost feel a little guilty that I have to be locked away from them, but it would be nearly impossible because they would both be walking all over my desk, laptop, and the paperwork on my desk. They would amazing co-workers, if they would not try helping SO much!

Now that we are at the beginning of a new week, that is hopefully filled with fantastic opportunities I think we all could benefit from a little motivation! My hope is that the quote I am sharing with y’all will kick start your week with the right amount of motivation, optimism, and encouragement that is necessary to start a week off on the right track! I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the quote and also how your weekend was!

Oh my goodness, almost forgot to tell you about something truly shocking and amazing happened at almost 5:00 PM on Friday. Y’all know that I had started a new job a few months ago and the work is similar I have done previously. The only issues have been the lack of training and the consistent changes that do not usually make sense. Anyways, the good news is I received an email from a team lead telling what a good job I was doing, and that she and others in management were very impressed with me. This made me feel pretty great and helped build my confidence.

Thank you for visiting my site today and I hope you have a splendid start to your week! I know I have been slower with my responses to your comments, but I promise I will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

Pros & Cons to working from home

Let’s Talk About Our New Norms

In the wake of the pandemic, many companies are not requiring their employees to work in the office but instead allowing them to work from home. The truth is many positions could have been working from home long before now. Companies could have saved themselves a lot of money by not paying rental payments or leases on buildings, the utilities required, or any other expenses. Technology in 2020 has come as far allowing for any and everything to be done online. Meetings and training can be done through Skype for business, Zoom, GoToMeeting, and countless other programs.

Working from home and setting up a home office comes with many benefits, but also several challenges. Do y’all have a home office since COVID-19 has spread massively and relentlessly around the world? If you have, what have been the benefits and challenges you have experienced?

The benefits of being able to work from home might be rather obvious, but I will explain a few I have found. One of the greatest and most crystal-clear benefits is safety from a deadly virus. Considering I have a weak immune system because of the medication I take for Multiple Sclerosis, it is a blessing to work from home. I try my best to keep my distance from people outside of my home and now days hardly leave my house. This virus scares the hell out of me because it has already killed so many people and could, unfortunately, kill me as well and I can’t do that to my family.

Another benefit working from home provides me is the ability to always wear comfortable and non-dressy clothes. This might sound like a silly benefit, but it can be incredibly helpful when dealing with the massive pain I deal with on a daily basis. Just by having the choice to never wear those uncomfortable, but cute high heel shoes or the pretty but extremely confining dresses or pants, it is priceless. Simply being able to get out of the shower and not have to mess with drying my hair or trying to get it looking nice is a time saver! Then just throwing on a t-shirt and comfy pants are amazing. Of course, I do still continue putting my makeup on because it makes me feel much more confident, even though no one but me sees it.

An additional benefit to working from home is never dealing with the insane and chaotic traffic in the mornings on my way into work or the evenings on the way home. With the ridiculous amounts of crazed drivers always in a rush to get where they think they must go, seldom paying attention to anything but the phone by their side, and seeing the numerous accidents along the way was terrifying. I always dreaded my drives and now to get to work is a simple walk downstairs to where my home office is set up!

In a crazy way, it is always a benefit and also a disadvantage to not have to be around co-workers. We have all dealt with those co-workers that enjoyed office drama and gossip. Trying to remain polite to others while avoiding the drama was always so exhausting. It is rather nice to never be forced to worry about the latest drama or gossip the runs through most offices. I do not need to worry about who I should avoid and or who can or can’t be trusted. I enjoy being able to focus completely on the work that I need to do during my workday without interruptions from co-workers wanting to talk nonsense. Even with all that said, I do still miss having a co-worker close by to ask questions or run issues by, but I guess that is what email is for.

Even though there are many benefits to working from the comfort and safety of my own home, there are some challenges involved as well. To be honest, it does not matter how many challenges I might face working from home, the benefits will always outweigh any and all obstacles.

Although I did work for a mortgage company for almost three years in the past, it has been a few years since I worked in the industry. The company I am with now is a lot different and so are my job duties. My previous mortgage company, like any other, had its good and bad parts. I did and still do have a great amount of respect for my former manager. I am not going to talk negatively about my previous mortgage company because I did learn a lot, so overall it was a good experience. The negative aspects of that company are the same as most companies, there are many immature people that are in positions they do not have the knowledge or business being in.

One of the challenges I have found working from home is the virtual/online training and guidance. Like I just explained, I worked for a mortgage company previously and even though that company had its own challenges, I did receive adequate in-person training. The training, guidance, and direction provided me with the confidence that enabled me to do my job almost like second nature. Learning a new job with many new responsibilities virtually has been slightly difficult. There are a few people I can email or instant message with any questions I have, but this causes me a lack of confidence in the knowledge I have and or even my skills. I think not having someone to give me feedback on what I am doing well with or what and how I can improve on is frustrating. When you work for a company and go to an office, there is normally a handbook on processes, but working from home there has not been such a thing.

Another challenge I have encountered while working from home is having the silence needed for focusing. My husband also works from home, but he works nights and we do share the same home office area. There are some hours after his shift ends he needs to unwind, which I can understand and support. The only issue is he will watch new segments online causing an annoying distraction for me. I know it is important to know what is going on in the world, but I have had more than enough of the political lies and prefer to not listen to anything that comes from the president’s mouth. I also can’t take any more about Epstein or his girlfriend/partner in crime Maxwell. Everything that Epstein and Maxwell did cause me to feel sad, angry, and massive amounts of emotional pain.

I never in a million years thought I would ever think this, but something else that is a little challenging for me is, not know any of my co-workers. Of course, I managed to get to know a couple of my co-workers through email and phone calls, but I have never met any of them in person. I have been with my company for one month now and I still do not even know everyone’s name on the team I work with. It is unusual for me to not know at least something about everyone I work with. I have always been friendly and accepting of others and now it is just me alone. I guess in a way, working from home can be a little lonely.

Now that I have gone through the benefits and challenges I have found about working from home, I would love to hear your feedback. I know not everyone is able to do their job from home, but many have been granted this access. Do any of you that work from home have benefits and challenges you have found? How have you dealt with the challenges?

Thank you for visiting my site today. It has been a little while since I have been able to write about a specific topic because I am normally too darn exhausted to do so. This is something that I have missed and plan to do more of. I know y’all deal with being tired and it is hard to leave comments, but I do look forward to reading yours. I promise that I will respond to all comments as quickly as I can. I know I say this in every post, but please do everything you possibly can to stay safe from the virus. This virus knows no boundaries and will cause problems for anyone it can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

Belated First Day Experience

I know I am a little delayed in telling y’all about my first day at my new work from home job and I am so sorry about that! It was also my first day working after several months of not working, so I was pretty exhausted. To add on to my first day of work after not working for several months, I also did not sleep for close to 48 hours. I do not know why, but I was unable to sleep most of the weekend. There isn’t really a reason for it either. Thankfully, I actually finally did sleep on Monday evening for about 5 or 6 hours, so now I can tell y’all about the first day with my work from home job!

Monday morning started off well, but on barely any sleep it was twice as exhausting. I had two Zoom meetings, one of which thankfully I wasn’t on screen but the other one, unfortunately, I was on camera. I don’t know about y’all, but I hate seeing myself on screen. I don’t think it is a very nice image! This job is working with a mortgage company and it was amazing how much I ended up remembering from when I worked for a mortgage company a few years ago. I will say this company seems a lot more organized than the previous mortgage company I worked for.

I will be the first to say that I am not all that great with hooking up computer equipment, but thankfully my husband is great at it. The poor guy was up until about 7 in the morning making sure all my equipment was set up and working correctly. I guess it is a good thing he works nights and does well being up all hours of the night! Unfortunately, he doesn’t work for the company I do so he doesn’t have access to what the IT people do, but he did amazing with what he could. I did have to call the IT department because there was something wrong, but it was nothing my husband didn’t do, it was on the company’s side. The IT support person even admitted the issue was a known problem.

The second day of work was a few Zoom meetings and yes, I was on video again. I don’t know why I hate seeing myself on screen or in pictures. I am very critical of myself! But the second day went well. I had a few modules to read and then complete a test. Testing has never been something I was good at. I could know the answers to all the questions, but when the timer starts I forget everything. The third day will be doing modules and one Skype meeting, which I will not be on camera!!

Thank y’all for visiting my site today and I am so sorry I was so delayed with telling y’all about the first day at work! I hope your week has started well and you are staying safe! This virus isn’t over yet and if you live in the United States you already know our so-called leader isn’t doing anything to protect any of us. This person is caught up in his reelection campaign and his pole numbers.

Please, if you do live in the states don’t forget to vote in November. We the people need to join together and END the Trump presidency! I hope you never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!
