Admiration

Admiration is a strong and powerful word, but what does it mean? Admiration is an emotion that is felt when we witness an individual that is competent, talented, and or exceeds the typical standard. We may feel deep respect or show warm approval for that person. Admiring someone could cause us to envy or be jealous of what another can do, which may motivate us to try hard and assist with self-improvement.

What are a few qualities you admire in an individual and why? There are numerous qualities that I admire in an individual that help me to continuously try to be a stronger and better person. One quality I find admirable is determination. All too often it can be easy to get discouraged when it seems like something is impossible and we want to give up. When someone is filled with determination, they never give up and use those feelings to make what was thought to be impossible, possible. There have been times in my life when I felt discouraged because life threw too much my way all at once. However, even though I felt this negative way, I always try to keep pushing forward to accomplish what I desire most.

I find people that are resilient extremely admirable. I would say that determination and resilience go hand and hand to help us succeed in life! Those that are resilient can recover quickly from the challenges of life. There is no denying the fact that life can be difficult, and it takes a lot to make it through. However, I am sure we have all survived many challenges in our lives and we keep going!

I believe an important quality to have is integrity. A person with integrity is honest and has strong morals. We might not always agree with our friends and family, but we must all remain honest. It seems like many in the world have forgotten what their morals are or even what that means. Morals are an individual’s standards of behavior or beliefs that concern what is and is not acceptable for them to do. For instance, I am a strong believer in treating everyone with respect and have never judged a person on anything but their actions.

Another quality that I find admiration is when someone is empathetic towards others. We never know what another person is going through in life, and I think it is crucial to try to understand, even though it might not be something we have gone through personally. The person that is going through a difficult situation may just need someone to listen and not judge.

A quality that I wish more people had is the ability to believe in the importance of equality. It does not matter what the color of a person’s skin is, where they are from, what their religious beliefs are, who they love, or anything else because we are all human and deserve to be treated with respect. I do not think what is going on with racial discrimination is fair. Too many people feel like they need to hide who they love because the other person is of the same sex. I believe that if people are loving and not hating, I do not see why it matters at all. During Pride month there was a very disturbing situation that occurred on a lake. One boat had a Pride flag flying not causing any troubles, while another boat began harassing them. The boat that was harassing them ended up catching on fire, which I think what karma all is about. The crazy thing is the boat that was being harassed saved their harassers by helping them get to safety. I was impressed that the boat with the Pride flag flying and being harassed saved the ignorant people because I do not think I would have.

Is there a certain person that you have a lot of admiration for? If so, who is this person and why do you admire them? Even though a certain person I have a lot of admiration for is no longer with us, I still have deep admiration for my late Grandfather. All the qualities I listed admiring, he had and then some. My Grandfather had a heart of gold and he will be forever missed by everyone that was honored to have known and loved him.

I am simply curious what would you have done if you saw the boat with the Pride flag flying and another boat harassing them, but then end up catching on fire. Would you have helped the boat with the ignorant people harassing the other boat? If you would have helped them, why would you have helped? If you would not help them, what would your reasons be?

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed this post, and I am looking forward to reading your comments, which I will respond to as soon as I can. I hope you are enjoying your weekend safely and you can relax for the last few hours of our weekend! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Finally Friday

Happy Friday y’all! How was your week? Even though it was a shorter week, it felt so much longer than the normal week. I do think short weeks feel longer because we are trying to fit everything into the four-day week that we would do during a normal workweek. What do you think? I can say that work is finally getting busier which I prefer because it makes the day go by much faster and when things are slow, the days drag by and feel like they are never going to end.

Now that we made it through the week and are now able to enjoy the weekend, we need to let any negative feelings the week cause go so we can enjoy the insanely short weekend. I do know the quote I am sharing is not what I would normally share on a Friday, but I feel like it speaks volumes and loudly! I have thought this for a long time now, but think it is getting much worse because even though it is 2021, so many are way too judgmental of others. I feel strongly that color, race, ethnicity, sexual preference, and anything else being judged is very wrong. As the years move forward, I think we should be progressing with the times and we should be much fairer, and equality should be for everyone!

The numbers of COVID are suggesting there is a decrease in the spread, which is probably because so many are getting vaccinated. Unfortunately, there are so many that are resistant to getting vaccinated. Of course, some are avoiding getting vaccinated because they do not believe it is serious or maybe it is political reasons, which make no sense to me, but it is those refusing the vaccination that are dangerous. I have had both vaccines, but I also have not been tested to ensure I am safe. I cannot help but worry a little, but nowhere near as much as I was when COVID first was introduced.

Thank you for visiting my site today! I hope you have a wonderful and safe weekend doing what brings you the most joy. I would love to read your comments, which I will respond to as quickly as I can. I am still trying to get back into my normal routine with posts, but I have felt so exhausted lately, which is probably because of the temperatures. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Pick Me Up Thursday

~Our Week Is Finally Almost Over~

Happy Friday Eve y’all! How has your week been? It is so strange how some days go by really slow and others fly by, but those are normally the weekend days. Do you have any plans for the weekend? No one will be surprised when I tell you that I do not have much planned for the weekend. I will need to go through the drive-thru pharmacy, place an order for groceries, and hopefully clean the house because it really needs some TLC.

As we are nearing the end of the week, but still have one day to go, I think we could use a little pick me up! I really love the quote I am sharing with y’all today, but I hope it offers you the pick-me-up needed to get through one last day until the weekend! I will explain why I love this quote but would love to read your comments about it as well. No matter who they are, most people we come in contact with can offer us some knowledge from what they have learned. We do not have to agree with everyone we encounter, but we can help them just as much as they can help us, we just need to give them a chance!

Life is not easy in the United States right now because there are still so many obstacles we are facing. There are still many issues having to do with COVID, hatred, bias having to do with politics, unemployment, and much more. I do not think I will ever understand why people have an issue with anyone that is not like them because I enjoy meeting and talking with others that are opposite of me. I find some people of pretty interesting. I had to go after work today to the local piercing place because after taking my nose ring out for the MRI, I could not for the life of me get it back in. I met a couple really great people there and they were nothing like myself, which I enjoyed. I even offered my help to a lady there with getting a job with me!

Thank you for visiting my site today! I hope you enjoyed the quote I shared and what I in this post. We do not have far to go before we are able to enjoy the weekend, but please be sure you are staying safe because things are still unsafe due to COVID and the other variants. I am looking forward to reading your comments and I will respond to all comments as quickly as I can. Please know that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Motivational Monday

~A New Week & New Opportunities~

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a nice weekend and you are ready to begin another week. There is a chance it is going to be a busy week, but sometimes busy is the best way for the week to be. I tend to think the busier I am, the faster the day goes by. This is probably because I get too busy to even look at the clock. Truthfully, whether we are ready for the new week or not, it is here and we can choose to be thankful for it, and enjoy our life!

It is our choice to accept the new week as a gift or a burden. I am going to choose to take on the new week as a gift and make the most of it. I want to help y’all to start your week with a positive mindset and then hope your week gets better with each day. I hope the quote I am sharing with y’all will help you to not only accept yourself, but love yourself for the amazing individual you are. Treasure the knowledge that you are incredibly strong and that you will not anything or anyone weigh you down ever!

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed the quote I shared and would love to know what you think about it. I promise to respond to all comments we quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

A Little Off-Script

I might be a few days late for my normal “Let It Go” Friday quote, but I think I am going to go a little off-script today. There are things we can and should let go of, especially when it is from the craziness of the week, but there are also somethings that are not that easy to just simply “let go” of. The few issues I have tried, but failed to find a way to let go of are the hundreds and thousands of death from COVID-19, discrimination, violence, and hatred, the lies heard from those we “should” be able to trust, and the healthcare or lack thereof in the United States.

I am having a hard time not letting ALL the deaths due to COVID-19 bother me. I guess I can’t understand why we are all still in the same or even the worst situation since we were at the beginning of the year. This isn’t a political thing, this is a life and death situation and having the good common sense to do what is necessary. Wearing a mask isn’t fun and even feels a little suffocating, but it can be life-saving. Or even just social distancing should not be that difficult, but some seem to think it is. It is way past time to follow the advice from the experts. So, please when you leave the safety of your house, wear a mask and social distance!

I will also never understand why there is SO much hatred in this world which is spreading faster than a wildfire. Discrimination is nothing new, as it has been going on for decades now. The color of another person’s skin, who they love, where they are from or anything else should not matter! Forgive me for saying this, but I do think the amount of hatred escalated much more over the past four years. I mean, we have heard the president of the United States call COVID-19 the Chinese virus. We have also heard this same person talk negatively about people from other countries and of other nationalities, which is very wrong, but that is only my opinion.

There has been a widespread amount of violence over the past few years as well and honestly, it goes back even further than this. Again, this only my opinion and it is okay if you disagree with me, but violence does not do anything productive and only creates more problems. I wish that there would come a day where we can all get along and join together for the good of humanity. I guess maybe I am just naïve, but there is no reason why everyone can’t unite and help one another during troubling times.

The United States is one of the richest countries in the world, but yet the healthcare is a complete disgrace. The United States is the only developed country that does not offer the citizens free healthcare and instead allows the insurance companies to charge an insane amount of money, and that money still does not cover the policy holder’s entire amount. For those of us that have several medications we need to take daily, the pharmaceutical companies charge a ridiculous amount for each prescription. If it was not for the Gilenya Go Program, my medication for one month would cost more than my car and I don’t mean just one car payment, I mean the full amount of the car, which I would never be able to afford it. The Gilenya for only one month costs over $8,000, which is ridiculous! Unfortunately, without the Gilenya, I am afraid my condition would deteriorate rapidly.

After reading all of this, can any of you suggest a way to let go of these things?  I have tried, but I am not able to. I am also one of those people, as y’all probably already know, who wears my heart on my sleeve. My heart breaks for what so many people have gone through and I wish there was something I could do to help, but I am only one person.

Thank you for reading this post, which is a little more of a rant of my feelings and nowhere near the positive way I am normally. Change is something that is necessary and I have no idea how to implement the changes that are required.I do hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend! I am looking forward to reading your comments and promise to respond as quickly as I can. Thankfully, my husband and I do not have two- legged children that we have to worry about going to school; our four- legged children never leave the house and are always safe! I am a chronic worrier and I do not think I could handle having any more people to worry about. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

~A New Fresh Week Ahead~

Happy Monday y’all! I hope you had a wonderful and safe weekend! I know it is never easy to start a new week because it still feels like it was Friday about 10 minutes ago, but this week should be great. Let’s see my week has a few different events that may be exciting. Wednesday is my birthday and getting older is never exciting. Thursday is my 9th wedding anniversary, which is exciting and makes me super happy! Before COVID-19, my husband and I always went away to my favorite place, the beach to celebrate both days. This year we are not able to do so, but spending the weekend together is what really matters!

Y’all know I think we always need a little motivation to start the week off on a good and positive note. I found the quote I am sharing with y’all beautiful and hope it provides you the motivation you need to start this week off on the right foot! I am looking forward to reading what you think of the quote I shared with y’all today and promise to respond to all comments as quickly as I can!

I think the quote that I shared with y’all today, pretty much sums up the way I feel about life in general. I believe seeing opportunities in everything in our life is a necessity for our growth. We have to continue growing. We are almost going to be beginning 2021, and I think we should be progressing with the times, which would include being more accepting and open-minded.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site today. I hope you have a great, and safe and your days only continue getting better. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

September Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month

Spread Love & Not Hate

I have said it before, but I will say it again, life is anything but easy. Currently, we are under trying times and it has been painfully difficult for many months now. NO, COVID-19 has not gone away or anywhere close to it as the president claimed it would. With times being extremely difficult for every single person around the world, I think it is very important to bring some attention to something heartbreaking for many people. September is “Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month”

Suicide is not something that is discussed often because many people do not what they can or should say. Unfortunately, this is something that will impact families and friends long after the tragic loss of their loved ones. Those that are left behind will have to go through the rest of their lives wondering what they could have done differently, but the answers will vary between each person.

I am going to be sharing some very chilling, melancholy, and distressing information regarding this very delicate topic. Over 44,000 Americans each year take their own lives by committing suicide. With that being said, on average on person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes. Due to the global pandemic of COVID-19, there has already been a serious escalation in the number of suicides.

Sadly to say, suicide is the 4th leading cause of death in people between the ages of 18 and 65. Another incredibly sad and heart-wrenching statistic is for every death by suicide, there are approximately 25 suicide attempts. Men are four times more at risk than women to commit suicide and their most common way to do so is by use of firearms. The suicide rate for men is highest in those that are 75 and older. Men that are battling with substance usage are two to three times more likely to attempt suicide.

Unfortunately, more teens die by suicide than cancer, the flu, and AIDS combined. It is the 2nd leading cause of death in people between the age of 10 and 34. It is thought that 80% of teens who die by suicide showed some warning signs before taking their life, but some can keep their thoughts, pain, and plans hidden very well. That being said, 90% of teens who die by suicide have some type of mental health issue or issues.

While it is 2020 and we should be more evolved and accepting by now, but regrettably many are still not. LGBTQIA youth have four times greater of a chance to attempting suicide than other young people. Also, LGBTQIA individuals with unaccepting families are eight times more likely to attempt suicide than those that have more accepting, evolved, and understanding families.

It may not be easy or even always clear, but some warning signs could be alarming, urgent, and possibly a cry for help. The signs include, but are not limited to:

1.Talking about wanting to die

2 Searching or looking for a way to kill one’s self

3.Talking about not having any reason to live

4.Giving away valuable/prized possessions

5.Acting or displaying new anxiousness or agitation

6.Talking about being in unbearable pain

7.Sleeping too little or too much

8.Withdrawing or becoming isolated

9.Increased use of alcohol and or drugs

10.Showing rage and or seeking revenge

11.Displaying extreme mood swings

12.Talking about being a burden to others

13.Exhibiting new daring or risk-taking behaviors

14.Showing a lack of interest for any plans for the future

Helping someone with suicidal thoughts can be challenging and painful, but it may be possible that you could save their life. Several things have been suggested by professionals, which include the following:

Ask: It is completely natural to feel fear when doing this, but do not ever hesitate to come out and ASK the person if they think about dying or killing themselves. By simply asking them, know you are not putting the thoughts in their mind and it will not make them any more likely to attempt suicide.

Listen: Try starting a conversation with the person and just be an ear to LISTEN without passing any judgments. You need to only show that you care and are there for them. Produce a safe space for them to share their feelings and vent freely. One thing that will be important, do not swear to secrecy because, with this type of situation, you might not be able to.

Stay: Once you have started a conversation with the person and they have opened up to you, do not leave that person alone. Make sure you STAY with them or at least make sure they are in a private and secure space with another trustworthy and caring person until you can get further assistance and guidance.

Secure: If you have reason to believe or suspect the person may harm themselves, take them seriously. Be sure you REMOVE any, and all objects that could be used in a suicide attempt.

Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 and follow their guidance!

***CALL 911 if self-harm seems like an immediate need***

Many years ago, I worked at a children’s hospital. During my years at the children’s hospital, I worked with numerous children that attempted suicide. I would take the time to talk with the child and give them a chance to talk openly about what was causing them the troubles. Of course, I was not a nurse, therapist, or physician and was only a nursing assistant who could show compassion to a troubled teenager. Normally, I was the person that would ride with the child from the hospital to the mental health facility because it was required by law and I wanted to be there for the child. It was difficult listening to the child’s painful stories, but I was able to offer them some friendly and nonjudgmental advice. Some of these children were abused by a relative, others had a recent break-up, and others were troubled by bullies. Often times, children do not feel like they can open up to their parents and have no one they can trust to talk to, which is extremely sad. Children have a hopefully long and great life ahead of them and need role models and people they can trust. These young people are the future and should be encouraged instead of degraded and harmed.

I had a friend in high school that had a tragic and difficult life. She was able to open up to me about some of it and I had firsthand experience with much of what she said. This friend did have her first child our last year in high school, but she remained strong during this. Many years later after her husband and father of her children was murdered, one of her children committed suicide. I know this haunts her to this day and that breaks my heart. I wish I had been able to be there for her during these times, but I was already living 900 miles away and was only able to offer her support through messages and phone calls.

Typically, my posts are a lot more positive and uplifting than this one, but all the information in this post is crucial and needed to be shared. I am so sorry if this is something any of you have experienced and hope your heart is healing from the sadness and that you will be able to help another that goes through something as awful as losing a loved on to suicide. Times around the world are the hardest they have been in decades so now is a time to pay close attention to people that we care about. I believe we all need to stand together and support one another during these troubling times because it is the only way we will make it through with any sanity we have left.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you are doing well, your weekend has been going well and you are staying safe. Y’all already know that I am a very sensitive person, so you will not be surprised that this subject hurts my heart. This is a time we need to support others and spread love and not hate! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

A Tribute To My Angel Above

**Until We Meet Again**

I hope today is simply just another Wednesday in September for y’all and does not hold any unpleasant and heartbreaking memories. Unfortunately, this is a day that changed my entire life and even my worldly views on life, empathy, love, compassion, sympathy, equality, death, and so much more. Many times, traumatizing events we deal with in life can have a long-lasting impact on the rest of our life and it can be incredibly emotional and painful.

It was late in the afternoon on this day seven years ago when my entire world was flipped upside down and changed forever. My husband and I were preparing for my birthday and our anniversary vacation; the two are back to back. I was just leaving the tanning salon and was still in the parking lot when my phone rang. I do not speak much to my family on either side and really only talked with my grandfather, so when the call from my uncle came, it was very unusual. I did always adore my uncle, but life always got in the way.

This call completely and totally shook my heart, mind, and soul deep within its core. I heard the words my uncle spoke so gently, but I do not think his words registered right away because he was telling me that my dear sweet grandfather passed away. In my mind my grandfather, whom I called Poppy hung the moon and walked on water and even though I knew he was battling with cancer, he was supposed to live forever. I could not then and still struggle with imagining a world without him in it because he made everything, including the world so much better.

Over the years, my Poppy taught me so much and for that I am eternally thankful and a better person because of him. He was a man that treated everyone fairly and equally. He never judged a person based on the color of their skin or who they loved because love was really all that matter and skin color never mattered. This is the way things should be and for some reason in 2020 still are not.

A great memory of my Poppy that I have is the car rides with him. Normally, this was when he picked me up from my mother and we would visit the family. There was a song he would sing along with and I loved the sound of his beautiful and unique voice. The song he would sing along with was “Seven Spanish Angels” by Ray Charles and Willie Nelson.www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8A9Y1Dq_cQ&ab_channel=WillieNelsonVEVO This song will never be sang the same or feel the same as it did when my Poppy sang it. I hope this link works right so y’all can hear the song!

Something I will always remember is a little more than one month before my birthday, my Poppy called to wish me a happy birthday. At the time it did not dawn on me, but I think he somehow he knew he was not going to still be around for my birthday and wanted to do what he had done for 32 years and wish me a happy birthday. I wish I realized this back then, but it is too late now. I just hope he never doubted how much I loved and admired him and always will.

Although we lived in different states and were miles apart, I loved our phone calls we would have on my drive home from work. I would tell him about my day and ask about his. He would tell me the latest information about the rest of the family and I would ask him to send them my love, which I know he always did. I miss his voice and the reassuring way he had to make even the worst situations bearable.

I know seven years is a long time and I have had many years to heal, but the loss still feels so fresh. Losing someone as special and loving as my Poppy leaves a hole in your heart and it does not mend easily.

My only hope is that my Poppy and my angel watching over me is proud of the person I am today. I hope he is proud of how immensely passionate I am and how much I will defend my beliefs. I am strong and stand by what I feel strongly about and do not back down to anyone and never allow anyone to sway my thoughts in their direction. I feel the need to stand up for people that are not able to stand up for themselves, which is something I know he would be proud of. Like my Poppy, I treat others equally and with respect. I have never and never will judge another based on things that do not matter like skin color, religious beliefs, race, those they love or anything else because in my eyes we are all human-beings. Love is important and it does not matter who you love as long as you love and not hate.

I will spend the rest of my life doing what I think Poppy would have done. I will always strive to make him proud so when we meet again he will welcome me with open arms and never stop being proud of who I am and what I stand for.

Thank you for visiting my site today. This was probably one of the most difficult posts I have written in a while because I miss my Poppy more than words can ever explain. He was a hero, an idol, someone you could always count on when others disappointed you, and he was a loving man with heart of gold. I do appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope you have a good day. Please remember to stay safe always. Also, please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

Pick Me Up Thursday

Happy Friday Eve!

How has your week been? I don’t know if you have felt like your week has been excruciatingly long, but I sure have. I mean it was not an awful week, just learning so much with my job. I have also managed to get to know people I probably will never meet! Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful for the training I am receiving and even more thankful for this work from home opportunity, I would not mind doing a little less Zoom. I do not enjoy being on camera at all! While I do not care to look up and see my face, it is a little amusing to see what other people look like!

As we are approaching the MUCH needed weekend and knowing it is a long weekend, we do have just one more day to get through. I think it is time for a nice Pick Me Up quote and hope y’all will like and appreciate the quote I am sharing today. I would love to read your thoughts and feedback on it and I do promise to respond to ALL comments as quickly as I can!

I hope you have a great and safe day. The best way to view things right now is that we are alive and have the opportunity for another day here in this world. Life can without a doubt throw curve balls our way and sometimes they miss, but other times they hit us hard and we have to find a way to carry on. Read and pay attention to the quote I shared with y’all today. Martin Luther King Jr was not dealt a fair hand, but he fought the fight with passion and dignity. There is so much shame with the way things are right now in this world and I can only imagine what he would say to people in this world today. I think y’all know this about me already, but I believe in treating everyone with respect and fairness!

Thank y’all for visiting my site today. I am looking forward to reading your fabulous comments. I am working on two posts right now, one is about Pain Awareness Month and the other is about how everyone has something to say about whatever illness we may live with, but they do not really understand the struggles that are really there. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

Motivational Monday

Let’s Start The Week Off With A Positive Mind!

Happy Monday y’all! How was your weekend? I hope you had a great and very safe weekend! I honestly do not feel like I even had a weekend because I was up early on Saturday and worked for 6 hours. Last week was a very exhausting week due to long days working, worries about our oldest cat who was diagnosed last year with early stage-kidney disease and now is not eating near as much as she used to, I have been dealing with increased pain, but thankfully, no migraines during the week, and other stresses.

As we begin a new week, we might face more challenges or it might be an easy week, only time can tell. I do think it is best to think we are going to have a great week that is going to offer us many new and amazing opportunities! I hope the quote I am sharing with y’all today will provide you with the motivation needed at the beginning of the new week.

I would love to hear from y’all about your weekend and what you think about the quote I have shared with y’all today! I promise, I will respond to all comments as quickly as I possibly can! I know that weekends are short and they are a little challenging with how our new “normal” is with COVID-19. Wearing masks is not comfortable and even a little aggravating, but I do think the discomfort is worth our lives and the lives of our families!

Thank your for visiting my site today! I appreciate how taking the time out of your day to read and hopefully leave a comment. I hope your week starts off great and continues being great all week! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and many positive vibes!

Always, Alyssa
