Motivational Monday

Hello Monday! The weekend has come and gone once again, and SO quickly. It never fails, the weekends are always way too short, but I hope you were able to enjoy it the best you possibly could. I did not do anything too exciting, but I was able to rest and relax with my three amazing cats. The weekend was a little dreary and yesterday was a little chilly, but that made it a comfortable day to spend on the couch and under a blanket! It is amazing how much a heated blanket or heating pad helps my pain on a cooler day and with the threats of rain.

It is never easy or exciting to say “goodbye” to the weekend and start a new week, but that is where we are at today. It is critical to begin a week with a fresh and motivated mind. I hope you will find some deep and good meaning in the quote I am sharing with you today. Our days can become stressful and frustrating, but we need to stay focused on what really matters to us at the end of each day. I believe the more we focus on what matters the most in our life, the better the days and weeks will be because we are not letting the insignificant simple things drain our energy.

Are you looking forward to any part of this week, I mean besides Friday? I am going to be working longer days most of this week because I am leaving work early on Wednesday for a follow-up appointment with the pain doctor. It is not the staff that I dread about these appointments, it is the drive on the worst road in the entire state. All I can do is drive safely and deal with it. I already know nothing will change because these appointments are always the same and there are never any surprises or changes.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed the quote I shared and look forward to reading your comments. I hope your week begins well and only gets better with each day. Remember to take things in stride and to not get overly stressed because it will not change anything. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

20 Plus Years….

For the past 20-plus years, I have been forced to live with an incurable illness, Multiple Sclerosis. There have been various challenges I have encountered during the years, but the most frustrating has been how extremely unpredictable this illness is. It does not seem to matter if I follow my doctor’s recommendations and take the necessary medication daily, things can still go wrong. I do realize that I am one of the lucky ones living with this illness as it has not caused me to be disabled and required to use a wheelchair or a cane, but it has caused me many issues.

Of course, I have learned to deal with the pain that I feel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year as much as anyone can. Lately, the issue that has made me nervous is the increase in dizziness. This is an issue I have dealt with randomly before, but it has been way too frequently over the past few weeks. I have not let my doctor know about the increased dizziness and not sure that I am going to unless it gets worst. After all, I already know what this could mean and do not want her sending me for an MRI or pushing me to take steroids because both make me miserable.

In the past dizziness was a sign there were new or active lesions on my brain. I think to avoid increased levels of stress. I would rather not have a doctor tell me what I already feel like I know because all that would do is make my stress skyrocket and then cause even more issues. Considering I have lived with MS for so many years, I know the most important thing to do now is to, limit and reduce my stress levels, which will hopefully make things better with the dizziness.

I think taking the right steps to reduce stress is going to be the best course of action. I recently did a post about the benefits of journaling, so I am going to try doing this daily and still blog. Writing is a great way to reduce stress and express positive thoughts and vent negative emotions. Now that the temperatures are cooler, I am going to start crocheting again because this has always been relaxing for me. I would love to be able to donate the blankets I make to those who need them to stay warm.

Do you have any specific things you do to reduce stress and relax? We are all unique and have different ways to handle issues in life, but they are all important. No two people are the same, which is what makes the world so interesting. I believe if we were all the same, the world would be boring and not at all interesting. It would be great if we could all learn to accept our differences and still be kind and understanding to one another because this would make the world a better place.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared, and you are enjoying your weekend. I am looking forward to reading your comments and I will respond as quickly as I possibly can. Thankfully, we do still have one day left to enjoy the weekend and I hope you can do so safely. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Benefits of Journaling

Journaling has been around for decades. Many legendary people from our history, such as Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Leonardo de Vinci, and Frederick Douglas kept a journal to record their experiences, thoughts, and feelings. This has been a beneficial self-care practice for scientific geniuses, brilliant artists, and anyone in between that is much less expensive than talking to a therapist. I am going to share several amazing benefits of journaling with you and hope this helps you to start of continue to journal.

Enhances Mental Health:

The simple art of taking pen or pencil can help you to relax, control anxiety, deal with depression, and best of all enjoy one of life’s greatest pleasures, of writing😊! When we can get our thoughts, positive or negative down on paper, we can often gain some clarity and a deeper understanding of what is creating our internal and emotional conflicts. We can also discover what external difficulties we may be experiencing. All of our problems, fears, concerns, and dilemmas will come to light as we write them down and allow for us to address them and determine a solution.

Promote Self-Confidence:

When we add positive experiences into our journal and reread them later on, it allows us to relive these good experiences, which can make us feel better and happier. Journaling our thoughts and maintaining an organized schedule may be helpful to reduce anxiety. It can be a good feeling when we check boxes off of our to-do list!

Heal past and current emotional pain:

Studies have shown that journaling can help the healing in short and long-term. When we put our thoughts and emotions down on paper, it can help to reduce stress and improve our moods. If we can find the words to describe our experiences, it may help us to organize our thoughts and emptions and gain a clearer understanding, instead of ignoring them and expecting them to improve on their own.

Of course, journaling can help relieve stress, but it can help us to confront other issues we may be dealing with. The other issues journaling may help us dealing are grief over the loss of a loved one, feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt, feelings of fear or anxiety we may feeling during our day, concerns for others and or their intentions, feelings of anger and or stress and SO much more.

Build and strengthen emotional intelligence:

Journaling may help you understand your feelings towards a certain person or situation. This may provide you with a clear understanding about what upsets you and inspires you. Journaling may offer you an understanding of what your triggers are, how to avoid them and or how to cope with them. When we write down our feelings, it is in a judgment free and private zone, which allows for self-discovery. While we get to know ourselves better, we can establish a deeper comprehension of our reactions, strengths, and weaknesses and ways that help us thrive.

Help achieve and remember the importance of our goals:

Studies have shown that when we write our goals down and the reasons, they are important, it increases our chances of success. Setting SMART goals, write down how your goals meet the following criteria:

Specific– be sure your goal is as clear as possible, so that there is no confusion.

Measurable- set milestones.

Achievable- make sure your goal is something that you can achieve.

Relevant- ask yourself how and why the goal will be beneficial to your life.

Time- set a reasonable timeframe.

Improves and increases your memory:

Studies have suggested that it is easier to remember something after you write it down. When I know I must be able to recall something later, I must write it down and sometimes multiple times. Letters, ink colors used helps our brains to remember important information. When we record our thoughts on paper, we can easily refer to it, be reminded of insights we had, and our goals that we may forget days, weeks, or months later.

Increases communication and writing skills:

When we write our ideas down on paper, it forces us to organize our thoughts. This also helps to communicate more effectively on paper and verbally, as there is a strong connection between writing and speaking.

Expands creativity levels:

Journaling allows for something called “Stream-of-Consciousness”. If we practice this type of writing, thoughts, and ideas may come more freely. This may help us become more expressive with language and communication. If you draw blanks on what to journal about, various prompts are available by doing a Google search. I can provide a few possible topics that may be helpful.

What are four things you are grateful for today?

What is your favorite thing about yourself today?

What was one thing you wish you did differently today?

What was something that happened today that made you happy😊?

Of course, I already blog as much as I can, but I am going to start adding journaling into my weekly routine. There are somethings I might experience that I want to keep personal and not have many people if any know about. Journaling is a private and personal way to get feelings out and I think this is something that we all need at times. It would be a bonus to be able to increase my writing and communication skills as well.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope the information I have shared was useful and interesting for you. I would love to read your comments and will respond as quickly as possible. I am sure you are looking forward to the weekend, but I do hope you had a good week. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Mid-Week Inspiration

We are halfway through this week, which means we are much closer to the weekend! The week started kind of challenging and mildly stressful, but hopefully, the last part of the week will not be as difficult. One thing I have noticed about life is once one situation improves it just leaves room for additional difficulties to arise. Even though it often seems the harder we try the more exhausting life is, we should try never to give up because there is light at the end of the extremely LONG tunnel.

Even though we are halfway through this week, we do still have to make it through the last half. No matter what we endure during this life it is important to remember, we are stronger because of all of those challenges. We may not be able to rewind the clocks and correct things we should have and make better decisions, but we can move forward and make each tomorrow we are offered better! Of course, no one is guaranteed tomorrow, but we MUST try to live each day as if it was our last so that we do not have any regrets. We must treat others with kindness, be understanding, and be compassionate because we might be able to make another person’s life a little better. Sometimes all we need is to have someone care and listen when we need to vent about struggles we are dealing with!

We all deal with struggles in life, but most of the time they are not catastrophic. Even on the days when I feel out of breath from what I am dealing with, I try to remember that someone else is always going through something worst. Sadly, many of the issues we deal with in life are self-inflicted and they could have been avoided by making better decisions. Honestly, I hate the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” because it seems a little harsh and I am not sure I believe this. I am not saying that the struggles will not kill because they do, but most of what we deal with just is not that serious.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my site today. I hope you have enjoyed what I shared today and you found meaning in the quotes. How has your week been up until this point? My week may have been a little frustrating and challenging, but there have been a few people that made a positive difference. Often it is the simple things we can say to someone, that can make the biggest difference. I look forward to reading your comments and I will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Tranquil Tuesday

We successfully survived the most challenging day of the week! How was your Monday? Yesterday was not awful, but it was certainly not great. I am glad it is over and hope today is not a recap of yesterday. It often feels like Monday is longer than the entire weekend, plus Friday😉. I guess the good thing is it is over and today is a new and better day! Are you ready to leave Monday in the past and begin another day? I definitely am because this means we are one day closer to the weekend!

After yesterday and knowing we have a few days left this week, I think we could all use a little peace and calmness! It does not matter who you are, everyone deals with challenges and frustrations. I think many people “try” to portray that they are perfect and have a perfect life, but that just is NOT reality. Just remember, it is okay to not be okay, to not be picture perfect, and perfectly okay to just be the perfectly imperfect YOU! It is more important to be who you are and live your life in a way that brings you the most joy!

The life we are living is full of challenges that make us stronger and provide us with the knowledge we need in life. No matter what we are forced to deal with in this life, try to view them as knowledge, and strength, and know that they all build the person we are. Nothing about who we are makes us weak, no matter what anyone tries to say. The hate people feel only shows the kind of person they are and that they are struggling with something internally. People who are miserable in life seem to want to bring others down with them. Misery loves company, but do not allow that company to be you because YOU are worth more!

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed the quotes that I have shared with you as much as I enjoyed discovering them. I hope your week started well and today is even better than yesterday. I am looking forward to reading your comments and I will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending you LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Motivational Monday

Here we are again, another Monday and a new week to get through. It never feels like the weekend is long enough, but I hope you were able to enjoy every minute of the weekend and that you are ready for a new week. I hope your week is full of amazing new opportunities and you can capture all of them with ease😊. It often seems impossible to let go of the weekend, I know our cats hate when Mommy has to work all day and leave them to cause LOTS of trouble. I hear them acting up during the day, it seems like we have elephants and not cats because they make SO many loud noises.

It is important to try beginning a new week with a positive and motivated mindset. Yes, I know it is never easy, but we do it every week so I know we can do this. If we can view the week as an opportunity for success instead of a nuisance, we might be pleasantly surprised by how great the week will be😊. Life may always feel challenging and we have to try a little harder and believe that everything is going to work out the way it is meant to. Even if we do not understand at the time, I believe that everything in life happens for a reason. I do not believe people or events happen by mistake and they are all meant to teach us lessons or fulfill something that is missing.

How was your weekend? For some reason, I did not feel all that great over the weekend. I had a lot of pain throughout my entire body, which sucked! A really great friend, who reads my blog and knew about the pain I was dealing with in my feet and ankles sent me a surprise to try and help. What was sent to me were these amazing heated socks, which have already helped the pain in my feet. In a world full of hatred and violence, it is nice when one single person restores my faith in humanity. There are very few people that make me believe there are good people still in this world, but I am thankful that I do have a few in my life😊!

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I have shared and the quote helps keep you motivated and optimistic. I hope your week begins well and gets even better with each day. Try to take things one step at a time and not become overly stressed as this will never solve any problems, but it will create more. I look forward to reading your comments and will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Since 1989, when October was declared Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October has been a time of acknowledgment. Domestic violence can occur in any community and affect people regardless of their socio-economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religious beliefs, or nationality. The physical violence one can endure is often accompanied by emotional abuse and controlling behavior. Unfortunately, this may often result in physical injury, psychological trauma, and worst-case scenario death. The devastation of domestic violence can cross into other generations and last a lifetime.

Even though there has been significant progress in the reduction of domestic violence, an average of 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner every minute of the day. What this means is there are still 10 million abuse victims annually. The number of victims dealing with this is astonishing and heartbreaking. One in three women and one in four men have been physically abused by an intimate partner, and one in five women and one in seven men have been severely physically abused by an intimate partner. Sadly, every year millions of innocent children are exposed to domestic violence, which can result in lifelong trauma, and negative effects on the child’s emotional well-being, and social and academic functioning.

There are many disturbing and shocking statistics available, but I am only going to share one because I think this will be more than enough to help people see the seriousness of this issue. The number of US troops killed in Afghanistan and Iraq between 2001 and 2012 was 6,488, which is a lot of lives lost. According to the Huffington Post, the number of women who were murdered by a current or ex-male partner during the same time frame was 11,766. The number of people killed in combat and those who are a victim of domestic violence nearly doubles. There are many reasons people who are in an abusive relationship will stay with their abuser, which include but are not limited to the following reasons:

1. Self-esteem is destroyed and they were forced to believe they will never find another person that will love them.

2. The cycle of abuse is the “honeymoon phase”. This is the phase that follows the physical and or mental abuse. The abuser makes the victim believe they are sorry, they love them, and it will never happen again.

3. It is too dangerous to leave. Women are 70 times more likely to be killed in the weeks that follow them leaving their abuser.

4. Statistics indicate that almost 5% of male homicide victims each year were murdered by an intimate partner.

5. The victim feels personally responsible for their partner’s behavior. They are forced to feel that everything that went wrong was their fault.

6. A huge reason victims stay with their abuser is they share a life, including children, homes, pets, and other financial reasons.

Often times people do not know if they are in an abusive relationship because their partner calls them crazy and tells them nothing is wrong and they are making things up or making them feel it is their own fault. The following are ways to know if you or someone you know are in an abusive relationship and need to find a safe way out:

~Your partner has hit you, beat you, or tried to strangle you in the past.

~Your partner is possessive, always checking up on you and wondering where you are, and gets angry if you go visit with friends.

~Your partner is too jealous. They will accuse you are being unfaithful or isolate you from family and friends.

~Your partner puts you down. They insult your intelligence, looks, mental health, or capabilities. Your partner blames you for their violent outbursts and tells you that no one else will ever love them.

~Your partner threatens you and or your family.

~Your partner physically or sexually abuses you. If your partner pushes, shoves, or hits you or forces you to have sex with them when you do not want to, this is abuse. It does not matter if you are married, “NO” still means “NO”.

If you are someone you know is being abused, there are numbers to call or text for help. The calls and or texts are anonymous so that you can get the help you need. The numbers to call are 800-799-SAFE (7233) or 911. You can also text 88788. While I understand many that are dealing with abuse feel trapped and that there is no way out, please know that there is help out there so that you can safely leave your abuser. One of the most important things to remember is, YOU are enough and YOU are worth more than your abuser is telling you!

One of my favorite bands wrote a song years ago about this issue and recently released a revised version of the song. This song resonated with me the first time I heard it and still has meaning to me today, not because I am in an abusive relationship, but because of things, I witnessed when I was younger. I do believe this is an amazing song and would encourage you to listen to it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ux6SlOE9Qk.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I know how disturbing this topic can be, but I also feel that this is crucial information everyone needs to be aware of. I hope you are having a good weekend and you are recuperated enough for the new week that will begin tomorrow. I would love to read your comments about what I have shared and I will respond as quickly as I can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

The adjustments

Over the past couple of weeks, there have been numerous changes to the weather. While I am thrilled the temperatures have cooled, the changes have caused havoc on my body. The hot weather I had to deal with all summer long was miserable and I could not wait for fall to arrive😊! Now that the fall weather is here, it is taking me a longer time than I would have anticipated adjusting. I know I can adjust to cooler temperatures because I love hoodies and snuggling up in a warm blanket😊! The issue is the constant fluctuation. If only it could just remain constant, I would be able to adjust and not be in unbearable pain!

Last week felt like an incredibly long week that I did not believe was ever going to end. Monday always seems like the busiest and most aggravating day of the entire week, but they all ran together and were just as frustrating. Working from home has many amazing attributes, but it also makes me feel like I am always at work because my work laptop seems to sit there and mock me. Yes, I do understand a laptop cannot really mock someone, but it does constantly remind me about work and what has gone all during the week.

The good thing about my job is, I truly do appreciate my team and my supervisor. One of my teammates always knows how to make me laugh and my supervisor appears to think highly of me, and I trust that she will have my back if I ever need support. I do believe this is uncommon in the United States because it has been a LONG time since I had a supervisor that is supportive and caring. Living with Multiple Sclerosis and dealing with the challenges is not easy, so having a supportive team at work is helpful and makes the week not as bad as it could be.

I am thankful the weekend has finally arrived, and I do not have anything that is a must do. I was even able to sleep in this morning, which is VERY uncommon. Two of my cats did start trying to wake me up earlier, but I was able to ward them off because I was not ready to move yet and was WAY too cold! This morning the issues I have been having with my feet and ankles were much worse, which I assume was due to be EXTREMELY cold. It is amazing what a heating pad can do to help with my issues with MS.

After a long week, what do you feel is the best way to recuperate? Are you doing anything fun this weekend or are you planning to just rest up in preparation for next week? I have a book that I need to read because I feel like it is going to help me with a challenging issue I will be dealing with soon. I think it is best to over-prepare when you know something seems like it is going to be impossible to handle. Even in the most challenging situations in life, there should always be hope, right? Right now, I need all the hope and preparation I can have because things are going to be hard in the coming weeks.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed and found meaning in what I have shared today. If anyone has any advice for ways to deal with an impossible situation, I would love to know! I hope you have a great and safe weekend doing what YOU want and not what others think you should do. I am really looking forward to reading your comments and will respond as quickly as possible. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Personality Traits

Happy Friday! I hope you had a good week and you are prepared for the weekend! It has been a crazy long week and I am thankful the week is finally over. How was your week? Today, I am not doing my normal Friday post because I wanted to write about something that I found interesting and hope you do as well. Sometimes I just enjoying writing about things I think are fascinating and different than the normal.

We are living in a world that has eight billion people, all of which have different and unique personality traits. I find most of these personality traits intriguing and want to learn and understand them better. With the various types of traits, there are, I find it challenging to comprehend several of these traits because they are the exact opposite of who I am. Before I explain the personality traits I cannot understand, I want to discuss how we develop our personalities. Are they something that is ingrained in us since we were young or do are personalities continue to develop throughout our lives? Do our personalities have anything to do with how we were raised? Do past experiences alter who we are in life and therefore affect our personality?

Before I continue to write and you take the time to read, there is something important I need you to understand. Please be advised that I am not a medical professional or psychologist, so all the information I am providing is from research I have done to further my understanding. The information in the rest of this post is not meant to be professional or expert advice, but just some amateur knowledge I have obtained. I have always found psychology interesting and exciting to learn. Personalities can be fascinating and the development of them is beneficial to understand why people behave the way they do.

According to social cognitive theory, our personality development occurs by observing the behaviors of others. Psychologists believe our personalities get better over time and refer to this as “the maturity principle”. As time passes, we become more extroverted, emotionally stable, agreeable, and conscientious as we age. We are not born with a personality, but our experiences in life, education, and environment help to mold aspects of our personality. Our genes and parents do play a role in our personality as well, but not entirely.

Psychologists have determined that those that display positive personality traits, such as kindness, honesty, caring, reliability, responsible, loyal, strong, and resilience have developed habitual responses that have remained permanent. The good news is, habits can be learned, so simply altering your habitual responses over time is an amazing way to create a change in your personality.

The personality traits that I will never understand are those that are considered negative. People can be pessimistic at times because of bad events that occurred in their life, but most can snap out of this when life gets better for them. I think it is exhausting to be around someone who is constantly pessimistic throughout their entire life and always sees the glass as half empty. Unfortunately, you can try helping these individuals view things differently, but many times you cannot fix their perception of issues in life. Personally, I do not judge anyone based on anything besides how they treat others. I would like to think we are all just human beings trying our best to survive in this crazy world and should be thought of as equals.

I try to avoid dishonest people, which seems to be a trait of all politicians possess. I would guess this is the main reason I do not like politics. You never can be sure when politicians are being truthful. Once someone lies and loses our trust, it is extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to regain. Another trait many people seem to have nowadays is manipulative qualities. I would almost put these traits in a similar category. Manipulative people are being dishonest. Manipulative people try to play on another person’s emotions, get frustrated and impatient easily, tend to be the ones that will make plans, and they do not listen without interrupting.

Lastly, one of the main personality traits I do not understand is narcissism. Narcissistic people tend to have an inflated sense of self-importance, have a sense of entitlement, require constant and excessive admiration, expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that would warrant it, and exaggerate their achievements and or talents. This type of person lacks empathy for others when they are struggling.

After reading this, are there any personality traits you find difficult to understand and may try avoiding those with the traits? Do you have ways to tolerate people with personality traits you do not understand or care for? Do you know what type of personality traits you have and are proud of?

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I shared, and it helped you understand the development of personality traits. I hope you have had a good week and you are looking forward to the weekend. This week has been much cooler, so my body is learning to adjust. The cooler weather has definitely created a lot more pain. Thankfully, the space heater I have under my desk and the heating pad helps a lot! I am looking forward to reading your comments and promise to respond as quickly as possible. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Pick-Me-Up Thursday

I am not going to say happy Thursday because I prefer thinking about today as Friday eve! The weeks seem to feel much longer than normal and I cannot figure out why! The only thing that has changed is the weather is much cooler, which I do like because I do not do well when it is super HOT! The weather has been much easier to tolerate, which makes sleep better! I do feel rather lucky because one of our cats feels she MUST sleep with me all night long. The other night the poor little girl cuddle up and did not move once, which caused me to wake up with my arm dead asleep😊! After a long day dealing with people that want to complain, my cats are one of the only things that make everything better.

Yesterday, I had my second one-on-one meeting with my supervisor, which I used to dread or panic about but I do not anymore. Not only do I have one of the best supervisors I have ever had, but I also have an amazing team to work with😊. These are things that make going to work easier as we are working more than we are at home enjoying life. Of course, I do work from home, but I am meaning home doing nothing but relaxing with my sweet and loving cats!

Thankfully, we are near the end of the week, which makes the weekend MUCH closer. At this point, we can almost taste the weekend😊! Even though the weekend is so close, we do still have a little left of this week, so I think we could all use a little pick-me-up! I have been fond of this quote since I first found it because I think it is incredibly true. I have always believed that no one comes into our lives by accident and all the events that we have experienced happened for a reason, even the ones we did not enjoy or regretted. The people that have come into our lives and everything we have been through have made us as strong as we are today!

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you enjoyed what I shared and you found the quote meaningful. I do hope you are having a good week and staying calm and stress-free as much as you can. I am looking forward to reading your comments and promise to respond as quickly as possible. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!
