Saturday Evening Thoughts

Happy Saturday evening y’all! I hope your weekend has started well and you are enjoying yourself. I know everyone looks forward to the weekend, but have you ever asked why exactly the weekends are so great? Of course, there is typically no work and we do not have to get up early, which is wonderful for most of us. There is still a lot of stress regarding COVID and we SHOULD all be following the advice from experts. Everyone knows that I have not worked since December 9th, when I was laid off, so things have been different for me and weekends.

Getting up early has been stuck in my being and it is frustrating. It does not matter what time I go to bed at night, I always wake up no later than 7:30 AM. Of course, one part of getting up early is because my cats want their morning treats at a specific time, and they start jumping all over me. With that said, I normally feel sleep deprived.

As for being able to enjoy the weekends, how are we supposed to do that when leaving the house can be a matter of life and death because of a deadly virus? Of course, we can leave our homes, but it is crucial to not only be vaccinated but also wear masks and social distance. How much fun can we really have when we must wear a mask which seems to be a little suffocating? With so many people still refusing to get vaccinated, and some will not wear a mask or even social distance, this virus will never go away.

As y’all know, I have been applying for jobs multiple times a day. Currently, things are starting to look brighter for the job situation. However, so far, the one that has been offered is a part-time job. Obviously, the part-time job is not enough hours for me, but at least it will be an income. There are two other full-time jobs, that I am waiting to hear back about. I am not patient and hate the waiting game, but things have a crazy way of working out. I am a firm believer that everything in life happens for a reason, even if we do not know the reason immediately.

Being unemployed has not been a great experience for me because I have worked for as long as I can remember. It has been nice to have additional free time to write more and be more involved with my blog. Yes, there have been times I was not able to write because I was dealing with another one of my migraine/sinus headaches. However, there have been times late at night when my mind is racing, and I have ideas to write about.

Thank you for visiting my site today. I hope you have enjoyed what I have shared, and I am eager to read your comments. Hopefully, you are enjoying your weekend and staying as safe as possible. I am working on a post about the latest variant of COVID and should be publishing it by the end of the weekend. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love, comfort, support, and MANY positive vibes!

Always, Alyssa

  1. I SHOULD be working this weekend but I’m at home. We should ourselves a lot, don’t we? I couldn’t work because I am sick with a horrible head cold. This is Day 6 😑 It’s not covid-19. I got tested 3 times!

When we “should” ourselves, it often makes us feel “less than” the person we wish we were. There is nothing wrong with doing just enough these days. There is nothing wrong with being at home instead of working. And being laid off wasn’t in your control – take it as a sign from the universe to be kinder to yourself and take it easier these days. There are days when I don’t do anything productive at all and I keep having to remind myself that it is okay.
