Pick-Me-Up Thursday!

Quotes-_-When-Ya-Just-Need-That-Pick-Me-Up-e1533242488825Good morning y’all! I hope you have had a great week and you are looking forward to the weekend that is SO close, I know I sure am! It’s rather nice not really having any plans and even better to know I will not hear an annoying alarm go off early in the morning! Y’all know I am still getting use to my new job and I do have a lot to learn, so I have not been able to blog as much as I would like. I am often so tired when I get home and it is just too difficult to get on a computer again. I would like to catch up on reading all of  your amazing blogs this weekend, but we will see how that goes!Enjoy-Your-Thursday-Pink-Graphic

I missed my Pick-Me-Up Thursday last week, but didn’t want miss it again this week! The quote I want to share with you today means a lot too me and it’s because of my previous post this past Tuesday. I believe that if we can all join together there is a chance we can have even more success! The is power in numbers and we all understand each other very well! I really hope you find this quote as powerful as I do!strength in numbers

I often feel that living with a chronic illness can and does make life pretty difficult, especially when many are against providing us with protection with health insurance. It shouldn’t be like this, but unfortunately it seems to be, especially in the United States strengthwhere pharmaceutical companies run the thoughts of the weak-minded, again no names being mentioned! It you read my post from Tuesday, you will know why I am pushing standing together through the hard times we can possibly face!

I want to thank y’all for stopping by my site today and I really hope y’all have a fantastic day! I do always encourage you to leave a comment, which I will respond to as quickly as I can because I        ❤ love reading your brilliant thoughts! Please never forget for a second that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love ❤, comfort and many positive vibes!

My signature heart

❤Always, Alyssa❤

      • I hope so too – just to step away from the computer screen (though blogging is okay) … I’m like you, in front of the screen all day – your eyes need a rest. Hope your stomach issues are continuing to improve with the probiotics!

      • Thankfully, we do get a 30 minute lunch (which makes me rush) but we also get 2 15 minute breaks to step away and recuperate from staring at a computer screen. I think it’s a mixture of the computer screen and the florescent lights that make me even more dizzy. In all honesty, when I get home from work I need quiet time, no phones or computers for a short time!

      • I understand that completely. I wear glasses and last year got glasses that are supposed to cut down on the blue light that comes from the computer, but I can’t say I see any difference. I just mentioned this to a fellow blogger and she says she has “occupational glasses” – she also works from home, also an administrative-type position and is on a computer all day. Do you wear eyeglasses Alyssa – if so, I’d be happy to ask Shelley what type of glasses that she wears to help regarding a lot of computer useage. If not, maybe your eye doctor has a suggestion – low tint to your glasses to cut down on the glare?,

      • Thank you for reading and leaving this comment! The color that comes from computers is terrible and does cause headaches for many people. I actually wear contacts when I am at work, but glasses once I am home. It is nice to have a break from those little plastic pieces in my eyes for 8 hours… Once I have insurance again, I might be okay wearing glasses more often, but then I would need prescription sunglasses as well!

      • I just got prescription sunglasses last year for the first time and only because I was driving more places on the weekend to walk and take pictures and the clip on sunglasses did not work so well. I wore contact lenses for years (the gas permeable) and when I started working from home, I gave them up (as well as makeup, getting dressed up, etc.) I liked the contacts, but you know … one little piece of dirt, etc. and it was painful.

      • I am glad you were able to get prescription sunglasses last year. It would be impossible for me to drive without glasses or contacts just for safely reasons. I really hate contact lenses because my eyes always start to get irritated and really dry. If I was able to work from home, I would never wear contacts again and would always wear comfy clothes, no more dress ups!

      • I’m sorry to hear they bother you so much Alyssa. Is this even with the soft contact lenses? I only wore the hard lenses my entire time I wore them. That is because I had an astigmatism and the eye doctor said it was better to use the hard lenses. I have slipped far from what I used to be when I went to work … I like to be comfortable now … I even look at my pumps, even flats – nothing fits anymore, just because I only wear the soft moccasins in the house, and outside the big, wide walking shoes.

      • I also have an astigmatism! I just wish I could afford that corrective surgery, but that even scares me. They only start bothering me after having them in for more that 9 hours. My eyes always needs a break!!

      • Alyssa – I am a lot older than you (I’ll soon be 63) and I started wearing contacts back in 1974. My opthalmologist knew I was vain, and hated myself in glasses (been wearing them since my 7th birthday) and while I am no longer vain since I stopped working and gotten older, I was vain. This opthalmologist was head of the Eye Institute in downtown Detroit and been around quite a few years. He looked me in the eye and said “promise me you will never ever get corrective eye surgery so you don’t have to wear glasses or contacts, okay? It is very dangerous – your eyes are precious.” I said that I promised and I knew the dangers. Back then it was radial keratonomy (RK surgery) and involved little slits in your eyeballs. We had that talk, long before Lasik surgery. I have known people who had Lasik surgery without incident. Where I go for my hair – the owners, their four daughters – no issues, any of them. But, I’ve also known people who have halos around their eyes, and fear driving at night. I also have to mention what happened to a local meteorologist at the end of last year. Jessica Starr got a Lasik procedure called “Smile” and had complications. She had pain, couldn’t see and took her own life after compiling a journal that detailed her pain, worries and the feeling she could no longer go on and be a mom, wife or have her job which she loved. I Googled to find the story, not to be a “Debbie Downer” but if you consider the surgery, don’t go for this procedure – others have had complications. When I looked for the story, I discovered in in “People” magazine, so it is now a national story and that’s because they have a support group as so many people have had issues: https://people.com/tv/meteorologist-jessica-starr-eye-surgery-triggered-suicide/

      • You my dear are not that much older than me, but I also know you are right! Logically, I would never have the surgery because so much can and does go wrong. I will just continue to wear contacts at work and glasses when I get home. I think there might come a time I will get prescription sunglasses or those glasses that change from inside to outside. I absolutely hate when I get spots on my glasses, but that is easy to fix!!! Thank you for always offering me such great advice!!!

      • You’re welcome Alyssa – this is really scary what happened to this woman, and the other stories I’ve read about this support group says the other SMILE patients thought they were the only ones. Maybe 99 percent of people get it done and they are A-OK, but it’s just not worth taking a chance … your eyes are too precious. Glad to pass along any info I can … hopefully your stomach issues are getting better? Hopefully the probiotics fixed the issue? The best news that you/I heard this week is that Obamacare is not going to be a Trump issue until after the next election (since he thinks he will win again … fingers crossed a Democrat gets in so we get to keep Obamacare … I just hope Joe Biden has not messed up his chance to win by the allegations against him this week.

      • I do not think there is a chance Trump will ever be re-elected, but who would have thought he would have gotten this far. I am all for Bernie Sanders and will continue supporting him! Something has to change and I believe Bernie will do what is right for this country!!! Biden may have made mistakes, but he will be better than Trump as well!

      • I think it is Biden’s nature – he has always appeared in pictures or on videos with arm around people, of on their shoulder. That is his nature – it is not really mine, as I never grew up in a family that was like that. Just my parents and me. I know I was surprised Trump got elected – big surprise. Bernie Sanders may have more traction now for people who don’t want Trump in. I can’t vote as I’m Canadian so have to pay attention from afar.

      • I think Biden is stuck in his old school ways, but I also think he is probably a decent man. Seems like people are either strongly against Bernie or love him. He has great ideas that would really do wonderful things for the country. I have always hated politics because there are way too many lies told and I hate liars. I can firmly say without hesitation that I am a Democrat Progressive We need to grow with the times and learn to accept people who are different. The US really needs to stop following orders for pharmaceutical companies and do what is right!! Trump is a horrible man and shouldn’t be in the position he is in. I never thought I would say this, but it isn’t Trump’s fault it is his followers!

      • I agree with you on Joe Biden Alyssa – I think he has always done this, and, like you said he has his old school ways and is not about to change. They’ve been making jokes about him putting his arm around President Obama (a “bromance”) etc. and all that and with others as well. Trump was here about a week ago and had a rally … they had some audio from it and it is his base, they egg him on and he spouts off even more. You would think he might have lost some of his base … I think they have increased and become stronger – OMG.

      • Biden isn’t young anymore and you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, well so to speak! ANYONE would be better than Trump though! It does shock me that Trump still has SO many supporters, but that is what a cult is. I don’t mean to sound cruel, but it takes a special kind of stupid and ignorance to think Trump speaks the truth. His supporters or cult followers are a bigger problem that him because he wouldn’t be where he is without them. I have never and never will believe anything he says or tweets. I can’t wait until he is no longer the president!!

      • I really did not think he would run again as I am sure I read stories online that said he never expected to win the presidency and really didn’t care for the way of living he must endure now, i.e. he liked driving his own car, liked dealing with business ventures … but, I guess he didn’t like them well enough not to run for a second term!

      • Him and his wife never expected for him to win, she was in tears when they heard the news. She didn’t even want to move into the white house, but I think she just didn’t want to be forced to live with him. He is kind of running the country in the same crummy ways he ran his businesses and bankrupting them. In my personal opinion, he is a disgrace to this country and humanity in general. He really should not be where he is, but he is because of his ignorant followers. You can tell I am very passionate about this!

  1. I finally got caught up on some of your recent posts. I feel your outrage Alyssa, and I would feel much the same way if I lived in the US. It really is insane, and I’m sorry it’s causing you and so many others so much stress, which is of course the last thing you need. I hope your tummy has started to settle down – ugh. Happy weekend – enjoy!! 💕💕

    • Thank you so much Amanda! I stand strong in my beliefs about what is happening in the states and it is sad that there is NO getting through to the cult followers of the president. I am not one that remains angry because it doesn’t do anyone any good, but I can’t let go of my frustrations to what the president is trying to do. It is so sad that there really are millions (176 million to be more exact) that will be affected if pre-existing conditions lose their protection. I am sure there are even many people that support the president that have a pre-existing condition or know someone that does, but they still support the president. Something must change before this country is completely destroyed with no repairs. I hope you have a lovely weekend Amanda, I am going to try to get caught up on fellow bloggers posts but I can’t make too many promises!!
