Good evening y’all! I am a little late with getting this posted, but at least it is still on the day of my beloved Poppy’s birthday
. I am dedicating this post and this poem to him.
My Poem for my Grandfather (Poppy). A man who will never be forgotten.
It’s been more than 5 years,
Since we lost you
Today will always be your day
I will continue to celebrate
this day in your honor
as it was the day your journey began
I think of all the lives you touched
Gracing them with your loving ways
Because of you
the world made sense
It was a better place
without you here
nothing has been
or ever will be the same
You gained your wings
To be the angel you always were
I still feel your presence
Especially when times get unbearable
You ease my struggles
By being my loving guardian angel
I cry tears of joy and pain
Joy for the times shared
Pain because I will never stop missing you
Talk to you so often
Still hearing voice so softly
Our bond was strong
and will never be broken
It’s been so long without you here
but your memory is held close
I know someday
we will fly together
Soaring about the clouds
But until that day comes
your light will guide me
Believing I will be reunited
With the part of my heart
missing since September 9, 2013
Thank y’all for stopping by my site. This post was very difficult and emotional for me, but I wanted to honor my dear Grandfather on his birthday. I wish this amazing man Happy Birthday every year on his birthday and I do believe he feels the love I am sending him.
I hope your weekend is going well and you are feeling the best you can. Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love , comfort and many positive vibes.
Always, Alyssa

Thank you! I do hope he smiles down on me and loves what I wrote for him. My Poppy actually wrote for his local newspaper, MANY years ago, but he was talented and purely amazing!

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamonds glints in the snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awaking in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
Do not stand by my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

Alyssa what a beautiful tribute to your grandfather. I Love the poem and all the quotes. I feel the love in your heart when reading the poem and it touched my heart as I shed a few tears. Not of sadness but pride in how amazing you portrayed your grandfather. I know how much you loved him and I hope you know the love he had for you. You were always special to him and he was always so proud of you. I especially love the quote about the stairs to heaven. You will definitely see him again but until then keep the wonderful memories you have close to your heart. Never be sad because he would want you to remember all the good times you both shared. He is and will always be watching over you. All my Love & Support, Mom💜💜

Such a beautiful tribute to your grandfather. We all lose something when someone we love passes on but what they leave behind, in our hearts and memories, is priceless. Such sadness in loss is indication that there was profound love. A warm hug to you, Alyssa.

Thank you so much!! I am so glad the amount of passion I had when writing this post for my grandfather showed. He was really the most incredible and fantastic men I ever knew. Throughout his life he inspired and encouraged me, and he still does this in death. When I lost him all those years ago, I lost a huge part of my heart and soul. It means a lot to me you took the time to read and make such a lovely comment! Hugs to you as well dear!

Thank you so much! I have been trying to write a book for a while now, but worry it won’t be good enough. It is going to happen though, someday!

There comes a point when we have to be satisfied because in writing, we will always find areas to improve. Good luck with the book.
