Do you ever want to step outside your bubble of life and escape to somewhere that is peaceful? Do you ever dream of a place where there isn’t any pain, suffering or struggles and life is easy and full of happiness? I know I feel this way daily and sometimes several times a day.
Those of us living with a chronic illness talk and think about our illness every single day, all day long without a break. We all already know this, but I just wanted to take a moment to remind you that it’s okay and crucial to take a break and focus on things that bring joy to our life. There are times that I don’t even know what brings happiness and comfort to my life anymore because there is so much that goes on in life that makes joy like a foreign object. The second I start feeling less stressed and actually feel at ease, something tragic happens in the world. It hurts my heart that there is so much negative in this world, which is why I do my very best to share positivity with every word I write. My Motivational Monday and Pick-Me-Up Thursday is meant to
bring you some positive and kindness thoughts, I only wish there was more I could do.
This post is meant to not discuss any illnesses, but only share somethings that I find blissful! Of course I enjoy and absolutely love to write, which is why as y’all already know I dream of writing a book someday! I have heard that writing 30-60 minutes a day can possibly help with writing an actual book, but I do still find that difficult. Of course I have absolutely NO intentions of giving up on my dream and will keep y’all updated on my progression.
Another thing I find relaxing is crocheting! I am almost done with the blanket I started a few weeks ago for our love seat. I had already made a blanket we use for our couch, so the one that is almost completed will just be a smaller version of the one on the couch because I like for things to match! In my opinion having two blankets for a living room that match, make things look homey and pretty!
Another thing that I really do enjoy is reading! Honestly I have had a difficult time with this lately because I deal with a lot of fatigue. I am extremely excited for the end of April when one of my favorite authors, James Patterson, will release his 18th book to The Women’s Murder Club series!! I know that sounds like a violent title, but it really isn’t all that violent and just extremely addictive! I read the first 13 books in this series in a matter of a few months because I was actually reading at my desk at my previous job, but that is our little secret!
Even though there is a lot I worry about with the state of our nation, I do try not focusing all my attention on this because what can I do about it? Considering there isn’t anything I am able to do to change the world, I will just keep living my life the way I see fit continuing to spread as much love and compassion as I am able to. Over my years I have found that fallen tears do not correct the issues and tend to only cause unneeded stress. I feel that standing up to fight for what I am passionate about is the best and only thing to do!
Thank you for stopping by my site today! I always appreciate your continued support and really love reading your comments, which I respond to as quickly as I can! I hope you have had a very pleasant weekend and you are feeling well! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love , comfort and many positive vibes!
Always, Alyssa

I do my best to not allow the state of the world to bother me too much, it is just heartbreaking. I really want the best for everyone in the world and hate seeing anyone being mistreated. When my blanket is completed, I will share a picture of both of them. I made the larger one years ago and just wanted the love seat to have a blanket as well. Crocheting is so relaxing, it just ends up hurting my arm.

Yes. there are so many bad things going on that we need to focus on the good and bring others to our side. 🙂 I can’t wait to see pictures of your blankets, I know they will be amazing!

I promise to share the pictures when the blankets look right! I am trying to figure out the right size for the love seat. I will probably make it too big, but that’s okay!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment. I read this post to another person first and they “said” I do not think or talk about my illness everyday, which couldn’t be farther from the truth! I can’t wait for James Patterson’s book comes out in April!!!

Maybe this person was complementing you? I try not to talk about my illness AT ALL to certain people in my life… they can’t handle it. But there is no skipping a day without knowing how it is effects me. Otherwise, this person just doesn’t listen to you when you talk! 😜 Guess that could be an active listening issue. Not your problem! LOL!

I think it is best I don’t read my posts to others before publishing them. I honestly don’t talk about my illness much, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel it. If I did talk more about it with this person you are 100% right saying it’s an active listening issue as they just don’t listen! Thank you so much!

Crocheting and reading are so relaxing! I’d read somewhere that it doesn’t matter if you only write a sentence, just write something every day. Do I do it? No. Do I want to? Yes. 🙂 No excuses, just not there yet. Someday the book will come. Wishing you a lovely New Year! 🌸

Thank you so much! Croceting and reading are very relaxing and helpful. I have heard many things about writing a book, but it is still so difficult. You are very right, someday a book will come from both of us! I hope 2019 is great for you!

Yes, I often feel like I would love to step outside the ‘bubble’ of my own life, and experience life as someone without a chronic illness. I can’t even imagine what that would look like, since I’ve had Sjogren’s Syndrome (another autoimmune condition) for the past 7 years.
I love mystery and crime novels as well, I will have to look into James Patterson’s books!
Thanks for the inspirational post and wishing you the best in 2019 🙂

It really would be amazing to step outside our bubbles and I am just so sorry you have to feel this way as well. I guess all we can do is fight the good fight ♡

Do I want to escape? God yes. All the time. Do I feel guilty? Not at all.

It is best to never feel guilty about wanting to escape often. Honestly, I sometimes do feel guilty, but it doesn’t last long!

I do too. It’s only human.

Yesterday we went to a hot spring which is something I’ve never done before. It felt so nice to soak in the natural minerals and I felt so relaxed afterwards. Afterwards we went for a walk in the town which was surrounded by mountains. A nice escape from reality indeed – highly recommend even if you feel like you can’t drag yourself out of bed like I did. Just do it 😀

Nature is something we should all get a little more of and it is often difficult. You should definitely try crocheting. There are tons of videos on YouTube to help get you started and it can be very relaxing! I hope you are having a nice week!

Thank you for the great words. Finding something that makes you happy is a great source to take your mind off things. I personally like the beach just sitting there listening to the ocean and clearing my mind. I like to read but that hasn’t been working out for me lately. I guess we all have book writing visions, but we know life interferes with that.

You are very welcome! I absolutely LOVE the beach!!! The beach is my happy place that I don’t get to visit near as often as I would like! Looking out at the waves and listening to them is very relaxing!

You do such a great job of spreading love and compassion through your posts Alyssa. You make me smile and feel better when I read your words and I wonder how you do it all when you’re still working full-time time? You are an amazing woman and I hope 2019 is an absolutely wonderful year for you! 💕 Amanda

Love the Mother Teresa quote you shared. It is important wherever you go to just spread love. Many of her quotes are beautiful. Some wonderful suggestions on what to do and I also love the never give up on your dreams quote. I need that reminder a lot because people keep putting me down and saying mean, negative things or not wanting to help me with my new adventure and website causing me to want to give up and regret creating the new website. The crochet looks nice. Can you send me some crochet photos to enter into the AllheART Art Award I’m starting real soon/

I am glad you loved this quote and you are right, she did have many great ones. It is extremely important to spread love everywhere we go because it could be the difference between life and death. Please do not listen or pay any attention to those that are putting you down. They are not worth your time and the truth is, they are probably very unhappy people. You know what they say, misery loves company? I will send you some YouTube videos because that is the best way to learn. Let me just find the best videos!!
