Good morning y’all! I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope you are feeling the best you can!
I feel so incredibly honored that Ana from https://momlifewithchiari.com/ thought to nominate me for this amazing award. Ana is relatively new to the blogging community, but she has done a fabulous job with every post she has shared. Even living with such an unpredictable illness as Chiari, Ana has raised her amazing children to follow her example of having strength, courage and strong loving values. Ana is also a loving and dedicated wife to her supportive husband. If you have not already had the opportunity to visit Ana’s site, I strongly encourage you to do so as I am more than certain you will enjoy reading her posts! I think once you read a few of Ana’s fantastic posts you will even find encouragement from how she handles her struggles in life. Thank you SO much Ana for nominating me for this award!
The Rules Are:
- Thank the Blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
- Write a post to show your Award.
- Give a brief story of how your blog started.
- Give two pieces of advice to New Bloggers
- Select 15 or more bloggers for this award.
- Let each Nominee know you’ve nominated them and leave a link to your post.
This is my brief story of how and why Is started my blog!
I started my blog in July 2017 for several reasons, but the main reason was to be able to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis. I have been fighting this illness since I was only 19 years old and I am about to turn 37. It has been a difficult 18 year journey for me because even though I have come across many people now that also battle this illness, back then I only knew one person and her illness had progressed greatly. When I was first diagnosed, I did not want to share or even admit the news to anyone because I felt way too much shame. Being older and wiser now, I do not have any shame about my illness and now I am open to talk about it. I want to have a chance to encourage others that are battling a chronic illness or illnesses because I know just how easy it can be to become depressed, discouraged, frustrated and want to throw in the towel. My goal is to help others realize that just because we have a chronic illness, that illness does not define who we are and it certainly does not mean there is no hope for the future!
Another reason why I started my blog is because I have a very strong passion for writing. I have wanted to write a book or even articles for a publishing company since I was a younger. In my mind I thought that if I started a blog I would be able to build my strengths and knowledge with writing skills and become a much better writer.
My blog has given me the opportunity to build my writing skills and help others that have fallen on hard times; both of these mean so much to me. I feel that there is way too much negativity in the world today and I am determined to spread as much positivity as I can. Maybe one voice can bring some happiness to another and then there can be a chain reaction!
The two pieces of advice I would give any new blogger is:
While I have only been blogging for a little over a year now, I feel that I have learned so much from fellow bloggers that have helped me along the way!
- One very important piece of advice I have for any new blogger is, build a connection with other bloggers by reading other bloggers posts and make comments. Making comments helps build a solid relationship that in time will become incredibly valuable. I have also found how helpful it is to follow fellow bloggers that share you share a common interest in.
- The second piece of advice I would give is when doing your own posts utilize pictures, people enjoy pictures! Writing a post that isn’t too long and shows pictures draws others in. I feel that not many people want to read a book with posts, but at the same time details are important if that makes any sense!
My Nominees are:
I know the rules state to nominate 15 fellow bloggers, but I am going to break that rule slightly okay completely! I guess I want nominate anyone that reads this award acceptance and wants to participate! I know how busy life can get for everyone and I do not want to add any additional stress to any of my lovely fellow bloggers, so I want to leave this award open to all of my blogging friends because all of you are so incredible! I would love to hear why everyone started their blog and the answers to the questions. Please if y’all have the time to participate, I will be excited to read your post!
Thank you for stopping by my site today and I really hope you enjoyed reading! I am looking forward to reading your comments and hopefully y’all will decide to participate in this award nomination, I think your answers will be great to read! Again, thank you Ana at https://momlifewithchiari.com/ for thinking of me for this amazing nomination! I also want to encourage y’all to check out Ana’s site. Ana is quite an incredible person and I value what she says and writes about! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love and comfort!
Always, Alyssa

Good morning and congratulations on this nomination, Cara Alyssa; you certainly deserve it. And I also would like to thank you for the possibility of entering the contest for all your loyal followers (like moi) I might not always comment you entries but I certainly take a peek at them every week as you always have a kind and stimulating wording for all those who suffer from a chronic disease. Unfortunately I have to decline your generous offer as I am busy writing my second book in earnest, which you will certainly like as you did almost all the postings of my “Emotional Frustration” series. Un grosso baccione. Arrivederci!

Hello my dear Alyssa. I am really concerned about the inminent arrival of Hurricane Flotence to the Carolinas as I have nany friends living there. Please seek good shelter and, if you happen to be in a low-lying coastal area, please heed the warning of the authorities and leave immediately. Un baccione. Arrivederci!

Thank you for your concerns. Luckily we are not near the coast and the only thing that is worrying me now is losing power! I can’t be without the ac long because it will cause many issues with the MS. But hopefully we will not loss power!!

So glad to hear this. Pray to God Almighty then that you will not lose the electrical power. Besides I’ve seen the great preparations of Duke Power and the Emergency Services in the Carolinas for the past 48 hours. You’ll be fine!

We saw about 100 power trucks heading our way last night, so I think we will be fine! Or maybe I am just being optimistic!!

Yes, I saw the truck convoy in CNN.Stay positive and keep praying. Un baccione. Ciao!

Goodness I really hope things will not be too horrible! I am glad there are so many power trucks, but it did make me worry last night which then of course I cried about it. I think I might be way too emotional of a person!

Thank you so much Heather! It really seems to draw people in when you have good pictures. I also feel that writing a post that is too long makes people not read, but maybe I am wrong about that! Dizzy is great at helping with pictures!!xxx

I agree a with that, I feel bad saying it, but I don’t read posts that are really long. Especially if there’s no pictures. x Also your subscription never came through on our site, 😦 but if you would like Dizzy’s yoga booklet, you can just drop us your email and we can send it over to you. 🙂 Don’t feel you have to though!! 🙂 xx Hope you’re having a lovely week. 🙂 xxx

I am so glad you agree with me! I think with LONG posts without pictures, I get distracted and loss interest. I feel bad saying that because I am sure it is great info! I don’t know what I did wrong with the subscription, but I will try it again. In the meantime, my email address is alyssabowman81@gmail.com
Thank you for letting me know my subscription didn’t come through. I would have been so sad not reading your posts:(

Congratulations on the award nomination Alyssa! I like the quote.
Our illnesses definitely do NOT define who we are and I have said this to people several times which is why my blog is not all about my conditions and living with chronic illness. Never allow anyone to define you by your condition. I often feel depressed and want to give up so it’s good to know someone else feels that way too.
You wanted to spread as much positivity and you have indeed. You definitely have. I love reading your blogs, especially your Motivational Mondays and Pick Me Up Thursdays because you don’t always talk about your illness and post up photos of yourself in hospital and that’s what I like about it because I see a human through your blog with a kind heart.

I like to get off topic of just illnesses and bring more into my blogs. I am so glad you like Motivational Monday and Pick-Me-Up Thursday. I think quotes have so much meaning and I love sharing them!!
