Good afternoon y’all! I hope you are having an amazing weekend so far and feeling the best you possibly can. After a really LONG week all I wanted to have was a peaceful weekend, which so far is what I am enjoying! Rest is so important for everyone and some of us are a little more stubborn about resting when we should. I am definitely the type of person that is stubborn about everything so it takes me feeling terrible to actually rest! I have vowed to myself that I will spend the weekend resting and taking care of myself so that I will feel refreshed for the upcoming week!
I know I mentioned to y’all a few weeks ago that I had applied for co-pay assistance with the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) for a much needed MRI. I had been in communication with someone with this company throughout the weeks and she even told me that I was “going” to be approved, but she did not know when it would actually take place. I finally received the APPROVAL letter in the mail today! I am so incredibly delighted that I after all this time waiting I can finally get my Cranial MRI and I will not have to pay a dime for it! I find it amazing that after living with MS for 18 very long years and having numerous MRI’s that cost a fortune, I was finally introduced to help! I know some of you do not live in the United States so this may not help you as much, but for those of you that do live in the states I am going to encourage you to visit MSAA’s website as they might be able to offer you some help https://mymsaa.org/. Now for those of you that do not live in the states you probably have free healthcare, which is really how the states should treat the people living here!
So how is your weekend going? I really hope your weekend is very enjoyable for you so far and continues to be wonderful! The week was so full of constant rain which always causes my pain to be elevated tremendously, but the weekend so far has been dry and just terribly HOT!! Of course with the heat, I am just staying inside with the air conditioning as much as I possibly can!
I always appreciate y’all visiting my site and I love reading your comments, which I do respond to just as quickly as I can! I hope the rest of your Saturday is spent only doing what makes you happy because that is what you deserve! Please never forget that I am always sending y’all LOTS of love and comfort!
Always, Alyssa

Thank you so much! I am a pretty persistent person and tend to not give up until I get the desired results! Now if only my persistence could make the world a better place and the darn MS to go away! You will be completely shocked, but I have done fairly well so far resting this weekend! I hope your weekend at work is going well and not too terribly busy and you are taking the necessary breaks!!!

Alyssa, I am so delighted for you, peace of mind at last. Sadly we don’t have free healthcare here in Ireland. There is a general health service but the waiting lists are years long. Unless you have a medical card which is means tested it is 50 euro to see your gp and they refer you to a consultant costing anything from 150 to 200 euro! We pay private health insurance of 330 euro every month (4,000 per year) 2 adults and 2 young adults, to cover unseen hospital care. It also gives us 25 euro back on gp fee and 40 euro back on consultant fee after submitting receipts. Rest well this weekend! X

Thank you so much! I am very relived that I can get the MRI without paying a dime, but I am terrified to hear what the results hold.
Oh my goodness, I had NO idea Ireland did not have free healthcare. So basically is Ireland worse with healthcare than the US?

Alyssa I know the dread of what the MRI will show is huge but try not to worry up your today thinking ahead. You will be able to face that day when it comes. I probably explained our healthcare system wrong…there is a means test and if you are classed as not having a certain level of income plus your diagnosed illnesses then you qualify for free gp only visits and hospital care or gp, perscription costs and hospital care. But the waiting lists are the problem. An 80years old recently broke her wrist, after being seen in A&E she was sent home to await an appointment to operate on her wrist. She was left a full week before they operated. People are waiting over two years for hip operations etc. If you are wealthy you can access excellent health care here.

I know there is not anything I can do to change what my results are going to show and I am promising myself to not stress about it. I am sure I will be a little upset once I have the MRI and hear the results, but I will deal with it when the time is right!
It seems like healthcare is a privilege not an right and that is just sad! People should not have to wait to have necessary surgeries or procedures and definitely should not have to pay thousands of dollars for them!

Glad to hear you were finally able to get some assistance so that you don’t have to scoop out 1000s of $$$ for an MRI.
Hope you’re having a relaxing weekend after a long week at work! 🙂 Unfortunately mine’s nearly over and soon Monday will be upon me.

Thank you so much Wendi! I really feel so incredibly blessed to have you for a friend! It is nice that there are others that understand how I feel. The funny thing is, I am terrified of the unknown, but even more terrified of what I think will happen. I do not know if that made any sense!! I hope you have a great evening sweetie!!

I am glad I am making sense! There are times I do not even make sense to myself! The test itself is a little uncomfortable, because I get a little claustrophobia! The results tend to upset me, but there isn’t anything I can do to change what they will read! Thank you so much for always being so kind!!!

Oh I know about MRIs………I have had quite a few myself and I seem to handle it worse each time. Maybe we will both have our next one on the same day as I have another one coming up soon and it terrifies me each time. I am deeply sorry that you know this fear too……..

The results of the MRI is always so dreaded because I fear what they are going to say. Mine seem to be more upsetting each time as the years go on. Do you know when yours is going to be? I am assuming mine will be in the next week or so. I am so sorry you know and understand these fears ♡

I spoke with the nurse today from the neurologists office and mine is going to be in the next 2 weeks. I have an appointment to discuss the results on August 23rd. I am SO nervous, but I am going to try to not dwell on this. I know there is no amount of stress, thoughts or worrying is going to alter what is going to be!

MSAA has helped me with cooling pads, a couple of ice vests, wonderful aids for heat intolerance. As for MRIs.. I hate those things. They are long, I fall asleep, get yelled as not to fall asleep but told to stay still, which leads me to fall asleep again. Stay still they say.. I am more still when I am asleep. The last MRI had folks who believed me about that, and it was good for everyone.

MSAA is really very helpful! They are the ones that sent me the free cooling vests as well. Heat tolerance and MS are a very difficult thing! I am so happy they have helped you as well. Have you reached out to them for assistance with MRIs?

It definitely is great news!! I am relived, but also a little nervous to hear the results after the MRI. Even with that said I know there is nothing I can do to change what they are going to reveal, so I am not thinking about it! I am waiting to hear back from the doctor as I faxed them the letter today, hopefully they will steer me in the right direction!

I’m glad you get the MRI. The rain bothers my head too. I call it ‘barometer head’ because in my case it has something to do with pressure changes in the atmosphere which my brain can’t adjust to. God bless you.🤗
