Unanswered Questions!

drowningI sometimes feel like I am drowning in all the unanswered questions in my mind. Life works in such mysterious and unexpected ways which at times cause a whirlwind of various emotions to run through me! My unanswered questions typically lead to overwhelming frustration because life makes absolutely NO sense. For starters one question I have had since I was 19 years old is what causes all these incurable illnesses? In a world that has many brilliant minds why have more cures been not discovered yet? Or have many cures actually been discovered but not released because the greedy people with Big Pharma do not want to lose massive amounts of money from less prescriptions being written? Big Pharma makes a living from all of us that need prescription medications, so without us they would see what it is like to struggle to scrap by pay check to pay check.

Another question that plagues my mind is why is there always so much hate and terribly unfair treatment for SO many? Why can people not all be treated with nothing but love and respect? I do not think it is at all right to judge someone for how they choose to live love and respecttheir life, especially when it does not cause any harm to anyone! I am a firm believer that we should ALL be treated equally because no matter what choices are made, we are all human-beings with feelings that can and do get hurt. For those of us that fight through life with a chronic illness, we often get judged by those that just do not understand! Many of us have a family to support, so we are forced to go to a job we may not enjoy just for a paycheck. When you struggle through a day of work in pain and then have altered hours, our co-workers tend to make ignorant comments that are hard to hear! One comment that just irritates me to the core is, “I wish I had your hours! It must be nice to be able to leave early daily.” Every time I hear this comment my response is ALWAYS, “Well I wish I had your hours because working fewer hours kind of hurts the paycheck!”  I guess life was never meant to be a walk in the park, but sometimes it seems incredibly unfair!

helping othersIn the city I live in you can not make the short drive to the grocery store and not see a homeless person holding a sign asking for money for food, which is terribly sad for me. Why do those that are in power chose to invade other countries wanting to make changes that are unwelcome, when the country they “stand” to protect needs our help? If our so-called help for other countries is not wanted, I think we should focus on the problems right here in front of us every day! I guess I believe our tax dollars should be spent on making changes to the education system, road conditions, homeless, healthcare and helping other countries when they WANT it, not when we think it is necessary!

Another question that I find extremely troubling is why do we pay massive amounts of money for health insurance, but then still get terrible coverage and pay extremely high co-pays? I am supposed to have an MRI once a year, but the co-pay is absolutelyhealthcare is a right ridiculous and completely not affordable to do once a year! Every other developed country offers FREE healthcare for all and that works for them, so why does the United States not try something that actually helps the citizens instead of keeping us in mounds of medical debt?

There are times when these unanswered questions cause me so much anger, but I do not help otherswant to focus my entire life on what will never be answered! I do not have the ability or the power to change other people, but I will always stand up for what my beliefs! I will continue for the rest of my life wishing for cures we all need and I will never treat anyone in a bad nature because of how they live their life!

Thank y’all for visiting my site today! I know this might seem like a bit of a rant, but I feel like certain issues need to be voiced! I really hope y’all are having a nice weekend and feeling well! 1. Alyssa, you are asking questions that have plagued thinking people for centuries. Keep asking them. Ask for answers from those who have power (people in government, etc.). Ask for answers from clergy, from doctors, from CEO’s of pharmaceutical companies. Demand answers. Do I think you will change anything by doing so. I know I haven’t so far, but at least I’ve gotten a few people to listen and perhaps think. That’s a start. If enough people ask these questions and demand answers from the right people, perhaps we will actually see answers in our lifetimes.

    • This was truly brilliant. I honestly do not believe asking anyone in the government will do any good because all they know is lies. I think pharmaceutical companies are full of greed and dishonesty do. I will definitely give this a shot because at least I will be trying a little more!

  2. Thank you for posting your questions, Alyssa. Even if the answers aren’t simple and there are no easy solutions, these are important questions all of us should think about. I, too, can’t understand the high cost of insurance and the high co-pay as well. It’s as if we are being squeezed dry by the health care industry on two fronts. MRIs are so costly…and to have to do it once a year is a lot. I particularly like how you ended the post. We can only focus on the things that are within our power to change, I hope you are having a good weekend.

    • Thank you! I think the healthcare or lack of in the states is horrible! The US is literally the only developed country that doesn’t offer free health care. They do make up reasons why it is a bad idea, but seriously it has worked for others why would it be any different here. I did just discover that there is a program that can offer MRI assistance. It takes a while, but hopefully it will happen!! Thank you so much for reading today and making this comment. I really do appreciate your thoughts!!

      • I hope the program that offers MRI assistance pan out, Alyssa. Let’s hope for the best. Regarding our health care system…we have such a long way to go with that in our country. There is never a perfect system but ours is definitely quite broken. I am all for universal healthcare too just because I think it makes sense but I know many who are against it, as well. I wonder sometimes if things need to be as complicated as they are now. But the fact is, here we are, at this messy junction.

      • Thank you! I am pretty sure it is going to work because I emailed the lady I have been working with last week inquiring about the status. She told me I was approved but she didn’t know when it would be in effect.
YES our system is definitely broken. I tend to think it is so far beyond broken that broken would be reassuring. I am starting to think if it makes sense, our country will never be on board. I do think they are against universal healthcare for very false reasons! It is all about the money they can make from those of us in need. It is definitely messy and it does not appear to be on the mend anytime soon! Honestly though I do not think anyone could mess things up worse than the man in the white house, but who knows! I just keep hoping things will change for the better and life could stop being so complicated!

      • Thanks Altssa. You too. Yes, the questions about illness, and why certain illnesses happen, and of cohrse, the pharmeceutical companies. Oh yes. ALL of those qhestions. Though I am in the U.K. so don’t have your terrible insurance problems. That sounds horrible.

      • Do you have universal healthcare in the UK? I swear the US is the only developed country that does not act in a logical manner and offer free healthcare!!! I am so glad you do not have to deal with this nonsense!!

      • No we do not have Universal Health Care. We have a National Health Service. It can be crap actually. But each person has money deducted from tbeir wages or salary each month ir week, and it goes steaight to the National Health Service. But you get no chouce of Specialust really. My friend in the US recently got diagnosed with breast cancer and she had a terrible time trying to find a decent Soecialist. She found one in the end but she did not need that syress having just had that diagnosus. Then tbere were arguments about the paying of bills by her insurance company. Dreadful

      • The so called healthcare here in the states is way beyond terrible! We pay ridiculous amounts for insurance and then still pay crazy amounts for everything! For me to have an MRI it costs around $1000! The thought process in the states is not in the best interests of any of us.

      • That is so terrible Alyssa. To have all that stress on top of your MS must drive you crazy. And yes, I did know the cost of insurance there is so hight. Totally unjust

      • All of this does typically cause me lots of stress, but considering there really isn’t anything I can do to change it, I am just trying to let it go and continue moving forward! The insurance here is extremely unjust!

  5. I guess we will all have unanswered questions, don’t we? And you’re right, sometimes it’s frustrating not getting the answers when we need them most. Just stay strong, Alyssa! Let’s all hope for the best! 🙂

    • I am learning to just let go of things that I have absolutely no control over because all the extra stress is unhealthy. I believe that staying strong is the only way to survive this kind of cruel world! I hope you have a nice Sunday!!

  6. You are not alone in your thinking, know that!… sometimes it is best to say what one is thinking rather than leaving it bottled up inside… I have a tree in the backyard I talk to and I am waiting for the day it answers… 🙂 the world is in a dark place at the moment but we have hope and hope is the last to die… 🙂

    • Thank you for reading and leaving such a well written comment! It is really not healthy to keep things bottled up and I am learning how to release those feelings. The world is definitely a rather dark and cruel place at the moment, but hope will carry us through!

  7. I ask the same questions. Why do innocent people like you and I have to go through so much and when will they find a cure? Why do some people get sick and not others. Life is unfair.
Why is there such a lack of research and support for conditions like mine and why don’t health professionals understand or actually take the time to understand?
I have experienced the same as you with work. Don’t we wish we too could do full 8 hour days and have enough energy in us to come home, do the things we need to for the next day and be refreshed for the next day.
People are cruel and need to learn to keep these sorts of comments to themselves.
At least you’re kind and you can continue to spread kindness and love.

    • Thank you so much for reading and making this amazing comment! I honestly believe if we dwell on getting answers that in our hearts we know we won’t get, we will go crazy! I strongly believe there are way more cures out there, but because of greed they won’t release them. I do hope I am wrong, but that is what I truly believe. I kind of think the world has become extremely cruel and it just isn’t fair for those of us that want to be kind and help others the best we can! They have all these donations sites and charity events, but where is all that money really going? There are always walks to raise money, but sadly I think that money just pads someones bank account. I really do appreciate all of your thoughts and it seems like we think alike.
I hope you had a nice weekend and I hope your upcoming week is wonderful!

  8. I’ve also wondered, many times, whether cures have been found for various things but never disclosed because of the negative effect this would have on Big Pharma. It’s a worrying thought… I also agree on the whole ‘each to their own’ point, that everyone should be free to live as they wish, providing they’re not hurting anyone else, without challenge or judgement.

And I also agree that the US should have a form of free healthcare that you pay into, such as with the NHS, even though the NHS has numerous problems of its own. You have a lot of good questions and thoughts on them, but as you say, we won’t get the answers, especially the answers we want, and it’s painful to waste life on focusing on those things we can’t change. That said, I also believe it’s important we have our own beliefs, stand up for what we feel, fight for what we feel is right…

Beautiful post, Alyssa. Who knows, with words like yours will help the world be a better place and bit by bit maybe it can be changed. This is my hope with blogging and raising awareness and voicing thoughts online; there will be less stigma, less ignore, less judgement and more compassion. xx

    • Thank you so much Caz! Sadly, I do not believe those living in the US will ever get any answers and I highly doubt we will get any type of free health care. It seems to me that there is way too much greed out there in this country!
I do hope by sharing my thoughts with those in the blogging community, it will spark an interest and awareness which may force some good in this country!
I always appreciate your incredible words of wisdom and not just because we are normally on the same page, but because you are very insightful and an amazing person! I thank you for all you do and share! I am honored to have you a friend!

  9. Nice to see you back! I have asked all of these questions as well, one of my coworkers is from India and he says they have good healthcare for their people and there is never a month long delay to get an appointment. He was surprised we pay so much in health insurance and it seems like we’re not really being properly taken care of! I agree with you on big pharma. They sell high priced medication as bandaids, with crazy side effects instead of creating cures for disease. I hope you are feeling better today. Take care!

      • I’m glad too, I’m new to WordPress on the mobile app, all I could find were the posts when you were out sick. It’s probably me and I should be wearing my glasses when using the this app 🙂 I hope things get better in our country for the sake of the next generation who has to tackle this mess left for them.

      • Oh no worries! The mobile app is a little different to view posts! I am on my laptop right now and really should be wearing my glasses, but it is almost lights out time because I have to get up WAY too early for work!
I really do sincerely hope things will get better in our country for the sake of all of us! There has been nothing but negative and heartache for far too long! It has been SO messy and full of hatred! I am sorry to say but I do feel that the man in the white house is destroying this country every single time he opens his mouth or sends a tweet!
