Do you know why Memorial Day really is meant to be celebrated? Or is this just a day businesses are closed giving us a long weekend? Or is Memorial Day when fashion rules say that you can wear white again? There is so much more behind this solemn occasion that should remember. There are so many veterans that have died while servicing in the country’s armed forces. These brave men and women gave their lives for our freedom and should be honored
.
Many people get Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day confused, so please allow me to clarify 
these two holidays. As I already have stated, Memorial Day is meant to remember the men and women that died while serving their country. Veteran’s Day celebrates the service of all United States Military Veterans, which is also very important.
For Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday of May, flags across the country are lowered to a half-staff position only until noon and then they will be raised to a full-staff position for the remainder of the day. This is a way to show respect for the veteran’s bravery and selflessness and of course honor their memory!
I hope you have had a lovely and safe holiday weekend! At least this Monday was not a 
day to dread by going back to work, but a Monday we can acknowledge those that gave their lives for our life and freedom.

Amen! this is a wonderfully written post. the BEST job I ever had was working at a VA hospital………..it was an honor for me to work for them. So much suffering results in protecting this country.

That does sound like a fantastic job! I will be honest, it is sad how the vets are treated now. They deserve the best care as they did risk their lives for our freedom. I am not one that agrees with war because I think there must be other ways to handle conflict, mostly by being respectful and willing to compromise. I guess this is why I would never make it in Washington!!

Yes, I am also anti-war,and completely agree with you, but serving our veterans was a dream job and it was my honor to serve those men and women to wanted to serve others.

That is so sweet! I am sure the veterans appreciated your kindness! I have and always will be very anti-war! I do not feel that war solves any problems, but it does cause far more problems!
