Good Evening and Happy Sunday! I hope y’all have had a nice and pleasant weekend. It always amazes me how fast the weekend flies by! I hope y’all were able to rest up and are prepared for a new and hopefully amazing new week!
Do you notice increased pain when it rains? Have you ever wondered why the rain can be so soothing to hear, but yet cause all you SO much additional pain at the same time? Well, I of course became so curious to get some real true answers considering all Mother Nature wants to do right now is rain I had to do a little of my own research.
After reading on several different websites including https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=52133, I have found it is all pretty much due to barometric pressure. When the pressure in the atmosphere is low, clouds and rain is much more likely. Dampness has a tendency to increase our pain and stiffness because of the reduction of pressure in the atmosphere which allows the bodily fluids to move from blood vessels to tissues and in turn causes swelling and pressure on the nerves in those tissues. Also it causes an increase in fluids on the affected joints. Pressure on the nerves and joints will naturally cause an increase in pain and stiffness
Let me just ask, how do you handle these rainy and painful days? Does the rain cause you more pain and stiffness? I try to stay inside, but what about tomorrow when it is going to be raining once again and I have to leave the house for work? I just tend to keep my trusty heating pad with me at all times and it helps some, but it is not as magical as I would like it to be!
I want to thank y’all for visiting my site today. I appreciate all of your support more than words can even begin to say! I hope you had a great weekend and I hope you have a great start to your week. I am looking forward to reading your comments and I will respond as quickly as I can! Remember, I am always sending you LOTS of love, support and comfort!
Always, Alyssa

Yes….I completely agree, rain is a great excuse to stay inside if you are blessed enough to be able to do so. I love to hear the rain on the roof……….but, it does cause me more pain also. (I am guessing this is true for most people with CI).

It really is a miserable feeling! Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to just stay inside tomorrow, I will have to go to work for 6 long hours! Maybe the rain will change it’s mind and go away!! It is crazy how much pain the rain causes all of us!!

YES the rain sounds beautiful, but it does cause more discomfort. I hope you ladies are having a great day today… without rain. 😉

The rain definitely sounds so relaxing and comforting, but it also causes way too much discomfort! I have a little sound machine that plays the sound of rain and it doesn’t cause any pain!!! I hope your day is going well😊

Not always good. I’ve had a headache for days. I love watching it but it can mess seriously with my head.
The sun is shining again.

I am so sorry to hear that. Headaches can be impossible to deal with. I know headaches are pretty much the only thing that can knock me down for a long time! It is quite amazing how much the rain affects so many people and in so many different ways. I hope you start feeling better soon!! That is a good way to start the week, with the sun shining!!!

I am so glad you got your coffee!! It is funny, I need some type of boast in the mornings, but never started drinking coffee. I do drink coke, which I know isn’t good for you, but I only have one a day and never finish it!

Having had two epidural caesars, I really feel the pain in my lower back.
Unfortunately, I have a job that requires being seated daily for almost 8 hours.
When I am at home, I take out my crochet…. it helps soothe so much away.

I do find sitting causes my back even more pain, but then standing causes my legs pain. I love to crochet and find it soothing! Although the temps where I live are getting much warmer, so crocheting a blanket makes me too hot! I hope you have a great week and thank you so much for your comment!!

I’ve always loved the peacefulness of rainy days but since having fibro I have had a love/hate relationship with it and the extra pain that it brings. I just try to minimize my to do list on rainy days and try to relax and stay in as much as possible. Thank you for sharing that insightful information about the barometric pressure affecting the nerves and joints.

Isn’t it crazy how illness changes things so drastically? I understand the love /hate relationship with the rain! I love the sound of the rain it is peaceful, but my goodness the pain that comes along with it is insanely intense!
