Spring is in the air!

Spring-Flowers-Butterflies-2Good evening Y’all! I hope you are having an amazing weekend! I definitely do not want to scare the pretty weather off, but it is looking like spring is finally here! The mornings are a bit chilly, but as the day progresses the temperatures increase as well! Trying to predict what to wear may be frustrating, but these cooler mornings and mild days are so much better than the extreme hot that is expected sooner than later.

Did you plan to spend your weekend  certain way or were you just be casual and going with the flow? I have found the more I try to plan things for a weekend, the more those things do not actually happen as I wished and I might be left a little disappointed. I have said it before, keeping expectations low will reduce the amount of frustration and disappointment allowed in your life, but I sometimes forget that! It is kind of silly to set ourselves up to any letdown or sorrow.

empty.jpgThis post may be a little scattered because my thoughts are all over the place, so please forgive me! I have been giving a lot of thought to changing the way my husband and I eat, so we can feel better and be healthier. Do y’all think that Organic Food are a better way to buy foods? I used to buy Organic eggs for my husband’s breakfast, but I have not been making him breakfast in the mornings because of other obstacles. But I am thinking when I do make a nice home cooked meal, maybe buying Organic meats and vegetables would be a better way of cooking? Organic Foods are about 50% more expensive, but if it is healthier it is well worth it. I also am going to try to eliminate cheese from our diets because it causes so much inflammation. Multiple Sclerosis already produces a lot of inflammation, so it would be smart on my part to reduce it as much as I can.

Do y’all certain season that is your favorite? I would say my favorite season is fall because the temperatures are perfect. It is not too cold, like winter can be, it is not too hot like summer always is! My body does not handle any extreme temperatures. If it is too cold, I get tense and then have a lot of pain. On the other hand, if it is too hot I feel so much fatigue and just terrible. I know I sound like Goldilocks right now, but 30 degrees is too cold and 90 degrees is too hot, but 65-70 degrees is just right!

Thank you for visiting my site today and I do look forward to your comments. I promise to respond to all of your comments as quickly as I can! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend and have the ability to do what makes you happy! As always I am sending y’all lots of love and comfort!

Love 2

Always, Alyssa

  1. Alyssa, we have winter and summer… seems like we lost two seasons in Minnesota. I LOVE fall… I can’t remember the last one I enjoyed??? I just ordered meat; no antibiotics, no hormones, organic and grass fed free range… blah, blah, blah from ‘The Butcher Block. They are in Wisconsin. (If you want a link, then I get more free meat too!) Let me know. You order and it is delivered to your door in a week. Crazy!~Kim

    • It seems like it is the same in the south, we have 2 seasons. Spring and Fall have disappeared. Most of the time Winter is not normal and there is limited snow, but when it does snow it is like a disaster. Summer is just horrible and too hot.
Thank you for your response to my food question. It helps knowing what others are doing, especially when it helps. I hope your weekend has been nice!

  2. I hope the sun is still shinning for you!. I love the way you described it as goldilocks but it’s true!. My fatigue gets worse in the heat, and when it’s too cold. I am also going to cut down on my cheese. We probably buy organic veg occasionally, as it is more expensive, so we do try and buy our veg from local farm shops. As for planning at the weekends, we always just go with the flow. Except for next weekend. We have something to look forward to which has been booked for months, so I know I need to not over do things before next Saturday. Enjoy your weekend lovely and don’t get too hung up on the change of eating habits. One thing at a time. Keep smiling. Xx

    • I really appreciate your comments! Fatigue definitely gets much worse in the heat, but it is coming! During the summer it is just important to find ways to combat the heat and stick with it! I hope next weekend is great for you! Don’t forget to get plenty of rest this week!!

  3. Hey, Alyssa–nice to see you. I’ve been a bit under the weather, but I have been trying to follow. Thank you for liking my article. I’ve submitted it for publication, so we’ll see how it goes. My first piece in 3 months.

  4. My weekend plans got derailed by a bout of strep throat and a fibro flare. Ugh. So I have been in bed watching a lot of Netflix. haha.
On the topic of organic, you should look at the list of “dirty dozen” and start there. I know it’s more expensive up front, but truly I feel that it will pay in dividends in the long run. I buy some things organic, like coconut milk, eggs, potatoes, bread, etc. I have found that I can eat organic sprouted wheat bread, but not traditional wheat breads due to gluten sensitivities. I have switched my diet these past few years and it has helped a lot with my fibromyalgia symptoms. Good luck to you!
