Of course living with a chronic illness comes with its own set of challenges, so why not just embrace them with open arms? If I went through this life being closed-minded, I believe I would miss out on so many wonderful new experiences. If we approach everything with an open mind, it will allow a freedom to accept additional knowledge we otherwise would not have been exposed to.
Just look at how many different medications there are for various illnesses. Of course the doctor will have their opinion on what is best but if you do not keep an open mind to medications, you might very well miss out on the one that is best for your body chemistry. It is amazing how much you can learn when you have a conversation with a friend, co-worker or family member about something they find incredibly interesting. This conversation can introduce you to something that is extremely fascinating that you had never heard of or if you did, never gave it a second thought. I skied when I was a little girl but only for a few years. I think about 10 years ago my husband discovered snowboarding and fell in love with it. If he had not stumbled upon this and introduced me to it, I would have never thought to strap a board to my feet and go down a mountain! Even though I am not able to stay out on the mountain as long as he is able, I am glad I have acquired this still because it is a lot of fun!
I do find it amazing how much I have learned from chatting with my fellow bloggers! I am the type that will talk with the waitress at a restaurant or cashier at the grocery store about their day, which they seem to enjoy as much as I do! Y’all know the lines at grocery stores or other retails stores can get long, so I normally find way to entice conversation with the person behind me. It makes the wait seem shorter and you can sometimes find out great information on how they save money at the store through coupons or apps on their phone!
Being closed-minded allows for negative judgments, which y’all already know I am one of the least judgmental and positive people! I find great pleasure in positivity because to me it really makes long days just a better and easier to handle. I always try to find the positive in the most difficult situations! I do believe that having an open mind creates a positive and uplifting environment!
I hope y’all are having a nice weekend! The weather seems to be changing once again. Yesterday it was over 70 degrees and now for the next several days it will be in the 30’s or 40’s which is quite a change. But I guess if you can’t beat it just accept it and continue moving forward! I appreciate you visiting my site and would love to hear your thoughts! I hope the rest of your weekend goes fabulously and you enjoy every moment of it! Remember to always stay strong and positive!! Sending you love and comfort always!
Always, Alyssa

I agree–great post that addresses how our minds pave the way to living “well” with what he have, where we are, and who we’ve become.

Yes, that would be nice! However, I believe it is a perspective to be cherished by those who experience it–us.
All the best to you, Alyssa xx

Keep leading the way, never follow!

Oh I will definitely never follow because it seems like most do not always take the best road in life! I would prefer to be a leader in the right direction in life!

I’m like you. I talk to everyone. The cashier, the gas station attendant just about everyone. I firmly believe every single person we make contact with ( no matter how short the interaction) is for a reason, we should always try to make it a positive exchange. Positive things happen to positive people.

WOW that is what I always say too, every person we meet is for a reason! We may never know the reason but there is a reason for everything that happens! You might think I am crazy but I even think there is a reason that I have MS. It is so nice to meet someone that understands me!!!

I totally get it. I think there’s a reason we’re sick. If only to show people how to deal with rough patches with a good attitude.

I am so glad you do not think I am crazy for saying there is a reason those with MS have it! I think most are paving a positive road for others with and without MS!

I totally agree and the weather has been all over the place here too! So many people are sick. Praying I don’t catch it!

I hope you do not get sick either! The weather is causing so many issues but I try not to acknowledge the sickness too much! I am crazy enough to believe if I just don’t pay it attention it will pass! I hope you stay feeling well and do not catch any of the sicknesses going around! I hope you have a great weekend!!

Absolutely! I try to get as much done as I can, as I never know when I will wake up feeling like poo. I feel amazing when I can get so much done in one day!

It is always great to get a lot done but I understand feeling like poo the next day. At least it can hopefully be a restful day!!!

I’m like you, though my husband often says I talk TOO much, ha ha! Love how positive you are Alyssa, keeping an open mind opens us to new ideas and experiences, which can only be a good thing 🙂 xx

That is hilarious! My husband often times thinks I talk too much to people I do not know. But, he seems to tolerate it! Thank you for your comment as well. I wish everyone could keep an open mind because I really do think the world would be a better and more loving place!

It’s important to open up to others.
BTW, I’m like you. I can’t simply order food at a restaurant without exchanging a few words with the waiter. My sister thinks I’m flirting. 🙂 The thing is, I care what they think. Lots of professions make people small, almost non-existent. We don’t even stop to look them in the eye. I don’t want to be like that.

WOW, I feel the same way! Waiters and cashiers are so often overlooked and or mistreated, so I think small talk makes them feel better. I don’t think it is “always” flirting but just being kind! I think eye contact is so important and shows respect!!

My kids “tolerate” that I talk to everyone ALL THE TIME….I offered to go to Boston in April with a friend who is nervous about going alone. She was so worried that I would be bored by myself for the 12 hours she is at a conference….. I had to ask, ” Do you not know me at all?!?!?” I will have 30 new friends by lunch 😛

I love it!! You are showing your children the proper way to live by being kind to others. You should be SO proud of yourself! It is funny you said you would meet 30 new friends by lunch because I am the same way. It is funny that people at the grocery store, gas station, restaurants and pharmacy always remember me, even if it has been a little while since I have been there. I think it is because I talk to them and treat them with respect!
