Back to work!

Monday 5I hope y’all had a good Monday! I actually went back to work today, for a half of day. It is crazy how much working for four hours can take so much out of you! Of course I have not worked in about a month, so I think my body was in shock. Hopefully things will get better as the week goes on.

I am trying to move back into the flow of work slowly, so that I do not fall backwards in my road to recovery. I did think about just working four hours a day this entire week, but I think I will wait to decide after a few days have gone by. Maybe my body will adjust to work again and it will not hurt as much as it did today. After a few hours today my body was screaming at me to go back home. When I came home at 1:30 I just wanted to lay down and get comfortable. never ending pain

I am hoping that tomorrow, being my second day back at work will go a little smoother. Maybe I can add a few more hours each day until I am back to working 8 hours! If any of you have any advice on how to work through pain, I am all ears!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my thoughts for the day. This was a pretty short post, just because of my pain today. I just wanted to give y’all a quick update! As always I truly love your comments and I do always respond as quickly as I can. Our communications really do make me so happy! I hope you have a great evening! I am hopeful that my day tomorrow will be better than it was today. I just need to figure out a way to make my desk at work a little more comfortable!

Love 2

Always, Alyssa

  1. YES of course I have advice! and yes it is the best advice there is! 😛 Alyssa, listen to your body. You are always speaking encouragement to other people, TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE! Do not over do it! Do what you can COMFORTABLY handle and no more. I’m sorry for all the caps, but relapses suck and you are beginning too see light at the end of the tunnel, do not push yourself please!

    • I guess I am one of those that can give good advice but never take my own advice. I try to be positive for everyone else but sometime fall short myself. I am trying to listen to my body, I promise. I am trying to take it all slow! Thank you so much for your concern!!!

  2. I am so happy you were able to go back to work. I’m so sorry you are in pain. That is the worse. You have such a great attitude. I think we try to be super humans, but our bodies tell us to slow down. Do the best you can (like you have been), but don’t feel one bit guilty if you need to rest. ❤️

  3. I’m glad you were able to return to work but I’m sorry it pained you so much! As you said, hopefully your body will adjust and the rest of the week will be easier.

I agree with msgracefulnot when they tell you to listen to your body. I’m not so great at taking my own advice but that is definitely one thing I’ve learned. I do understand the frustration of not being able to do everything you want/need to do because of health issues, though!

I hope you feel better soon and that this week gets better for you! ❤️

    • Thank you so much Robyn! Yes, msgracefulnot, always has great advice! I know I need to start listening to my body and my own advice! I am doing much better about it though, I did leave work when things got too much!

I really appreciate your concern! I hope the week gets better as well. I hope you are doing well and had a good Monday!!

      • I am terrible about following my own advice, so I understand completely! I’m glad you were able to leave when you needed to, though. I’m also bad about that, too. I’ll push myself way too much at work because I don’t want to admit defeat, I guess.

I hope today was better than yesterday for you! 🙂

  4. Good to hear that you’re back at work, they’re not happy that it brought so much pain 😦 Good luck with today Alyssa! Take it slowly, I know that helped me a lot when I returned to my work following long term leave. X

  5. I admire you so much but please don’t over do it, listen to what your body is telling you because it is telling you something for a reason, I found that if I ignore my body it shuts me down. Remember you have nothing to prove to anyone not even yourself. You are an inspiration to many , sending love 💕

  6. Woohoo, fab news that you’ve made it through the first day back!
Definitely recommending the ‘slow and steady’ approach. Don’t be too quick to add time on, just go slowly as your body adjusts. If you have any problems, or think work can do something to help make things a little more manageable, speak up and let your boss know. Just be kind to yourself, and celebrate your efforts along the way because going back is a big step! xx

    • I am so sorry, I was going to do a post today but my pain was way too high so I just could not do it. I am so sorry! I work 3.5 hours yesterday and today but was in so much pain today, nothing helped. I was hurting if I sat up, laid down, watch tv or type all caused me to be in so much pain. I do not even know if I am going to be able to work tomorrow at all. That makes me feel weak!! But maybe I will feel magically better in a few hours. I just don’t know what to do right now! Thank you for checking up on me!

      • You don’t have to apologize for not posting, ever. It tipped me off you where sick. It sounds like you’re not helping by working. I know you are trying hard, the only thing that matters is you know. What other people aren’t your problem, it’s there problem. Please consider taking several weeks off.
Is there anyway to do some work for home or your boss give you a project to work on.
Did the doctor give you an idea when the medicine should start to provide relief? Maybe a call to the doctor could clear your mind.
Take care. Let me know if I can help. Never feel you have to post. You’re health is most important.

      • You are far too kind!Thank you so much for caring. I can not really take any more time off, I was just off for about one month. My job is understanding but will not budge on with allowing me to work from home. It would be so much easier if they would just allow me to work from home. I can easily do my job from home. My doctor’s office has given up trying to be helpful. They do not have any answers, which is frustrating. I know I do not have to post but I feel like sometimes it is helpful for me to get things off my chest. I just could not do it yesterday. I was in SO much pain and typing was not going to help at all. I am hoping things are going to start getting better today. I really appreciate you checking on me!! I hope you are doing well today!!!

      • I actually just got back from my doctor’s office. He has me taking pain medicine and finally increased my dose back to what I was on before. One doctor decreased my medicine right when my flare up started, pretty bad timing!

      • It’s about damn time!!!! You should see a differ pretty quick. Since this is the worst one, don’t wait so long to say hey this isn’t working. I look at pain pills like this, we have to take them. sometimes. Sometimes we have to take longer than we would like, as long as we are honest with yourself addiction & coming off of are very simple. It’s the people who loose themselves in the addiction. You’re hard headed, but if you’re in pain you have to wave your hand high and say this is what I need now, not forever but for now. Being in pain creates inflammation which creates a cycle where healing is delayed. I’m so glad you went. You’re worth it, Take care of your health.
We have a new member on our team possibly two. I’ll fill you in once invitations come back. I think you will be overjoyed with one.

      • It is really crazy how so many people loose themselves in a pill. That has not ever really been a fear of mine. My doctor had tried putting me on a strong pain medication before and I did say no because I know the MS isn’t going anywhere and I don’t want my body to get use to stronger now. He actually appreciated my response. I am not the best admitting to the amount of pain I am in and normally try to push through, but this past month, I have not been good at pushing through anything. It really has been a very hard month or so for me.

That is pretty exciting we have some new members! Why do you think I will be overjoyed with one? I am sure you are right, I was just curious!

      • You have to speak up! You have a Chronic Illness, your body knows the illness well, when your body screams day after day you have to answer. I am a stronger believer of taking as much as you need at the time. You will find yourself here again someday. You’ve learned from this painful time that you need to listen to your body not be a hero. We both have that problem. We have to kick it in the ass.
You’ll find out today because one woman, the one I think you’ll really relate to excepted last night. I have to send invite and start the admin. to get her ready by end of day. I’m always looking for people who share the unending desire to share, help and grow. I would love to have 20 Contributors, but I can’t rush that, it has to hit my heart first.
Glad you held your hand up.

      • You will get to 20, I am sure of it!! I know I have to speak up because my illness isn’t going away, I am just slow to admit when I can’t do something. I am way too stubborn for my own good, and I know it can be a bad thing. I do not like to admit when I am not strong enough to do something. It made me so sad this morning that I couldn’t go to work again. This situation has honestly made me feel weak. I had made a goal not long ago about how many followers I wanted and I have surpassed it! It might sound crazy but helping others helps me feel better. I am looking forward to getting to know the new person you have!!! You are doing a great job!!!

      • Two things my friend. You are not weak you body is, they are two very different thing’s. When you can wrap your arms around that you will stop beating yourself up. Second and just as important, do put your value on the number of followers. You have to write from your heart, if you have solid followers the number does not mean anything. I can tell you from experience you with be disappointed if you set numbers. The way I know I’m doing the right thing and actually happening is thru comments and the followers I get to know. It’s a more fulfilling way to blog, the feeling is out of this world. You can’t control numbers and numbers mean nothing if you aren’t talking to people on-going to know you are making a difference.
You can thank me later for busting the bubble. As always you can say I’m full of BS!

      • You are very right that numbers do not matter at all. I have been able to get to know a lot of people on a personal level and that means so much to me, It is refreshing to know that I am helping some people and those people and I do get to have personal chats, On the days I am not feeling up to my best, doing a post isn’t that important because what I write won’t be from the heart. I can’t write if I am in too much pain. I want to be able to make a difference and help others, so that will always be my goal. The followers I have that have gotten to know me seem to really understand how I am feeling, like you do understand. I want to be able to write something that is very meaningful and heartfelt. I can do that when I am feeling better than I am right now. Thank you and that was not busting the bubble that was just being real!

      • I like the realness! There is not use in giving people false positive, if that makes any sense! I do respond to everyone that leaves a comment and try to stay in contact. I am glad you are seeing this on the Survivors site. I really hope I am helping people!!

Check her out she looks really cool and has a great sense of humor. Surprise! I have two more people I’m talking to but they bring other skills to the team. 🙂
